Alright guys I was recently offered positions at a firm that had openings in Denver and Phoenix. I’m born and raised in Florida, but I’m ready to move out of state to try something new. Anybody lived in either one of those cities and can help me with my decision?

From a purely goegraphical sense, I'd go Denver. Colorado offers a lot with great things to do in the state. Phoenix is in a desert. However, It is one of the top largest cities though, so there's that. I'd rather be close to great mountains, but that's just me.

I've lived in both. Denver hands down winner. If Phoenix had an ocean it would have my vote, but it doesn't.

As others have already said, Denver. There's really no comparison between the two cities, and I've spent roughly 6 months in each city. The mountains, views, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, etc… are simply too great not to take advantage of. Plus, where most cities have workers smashing super size value meals for lunch, it seems Denver has a high percentage of workers who walk/run during their lunch hour – or at least that was my experience.

Ummm… no one mentioned this yet… sooooo… Denver has legalized pot!!! Winner!!!

    Seriously though…

Denver… by far… and it's not even close!!! Like Trip11, I have spent time in both places. Denver is a great city and Colorado is amazing. Industries, jobs, activities year round, sports, culture, people, diversity in all respects, mountains, etc… there are lots of active people and not just with regard to healthy types of activity. People have a tremendous amount of energy in Denver. Always something to do and one of the best cities for singles or many excellent suburbs for raising children. Most people who arrive… never want to leave.

Ha… just got back on here because I have a friend waiting on her score today. I moved from FL to Denver three months ago. It's awesome, but just be aware that housing is expensive. Not sure what stage of your life you are in, but the kind of house we want to move into is going to be around $400k for less than 2k square feet. A lot of it has to do with school zones for us, though, and this just happens to be one of the best ones.

We love it, but haven't been through a winter yet…

More opportunities for advancement in Phoenix. They can't hold on to their people.

Denver is great and you will be more used to the weather. I am from Florida too and I hate dry heat. My best friend moved to Denver 2 years ago and she loves it. It does get a little cold though.

Well I think this thread settles it for me! Denver it is! My wife and I are both very active so we feel like Denver would be the best place for us. We will miss living ten minutes from the beach though :/

Both are great! Phoenix is unbearable for 3 months of the year (summer), and perfect the other 9.

Denver is perfect for 9, and rough in the winter, however not as bad as you would imagine. It goes from Blizzard on Monday, to sun and 50 by Wednesday.

I grew up in Phoenix and loved it. Flagstaff is 2 hours north and has snow and a ski resort in the winter- San Diego and Vegas are both only about a 3 hour drive away. I would take Phoenix any day over Denver.
