Seriously considering getting some. Lol. I keep reading about people running out of time. In between my bathroom breaks of course. I do not want to have to go, but I feel like it might be highly likely. Has anyone thought of this or considered it? I have never tried Depends but according to the commercials they are very sleek and comfortable….

Not that serious…..just go light on the water and no prune juice before the exam. there is enough time to go to the rest room and finish the exam. really though it's about time management. so we have to focus, we know we can't get them all right but we know we can't spend too much time guessing. so no depends…………….

If you are really worried go for it….However i have never been so tight on time i felt the need for depends!

I usually take one quick bathroom break between the 2/3 testlets to not only use the restroom but to get up and give myself a quick break. For me i need it! Also find the bathroom before you go in, this way if you do need to take a break you aren't trying to figure out where it is!

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

Nah, you won't need it. After taking your first section, you'll figure out that it is not as bad as might seem or sound. There was never time shortage for me for any section where I could not take any bathroom brakes. Moreover, during the AUD, where was so much extra time that I took break three times and still had time left at the end to go back to AL for a second time and just poke around.

REG and BEC are 3 hours may demand only 1 break, for FAR I took 2 breaks. The most pressured for time was REG so far, but again, I did take break and had time left over.

Whatever you do, try to calm yourself down and don't hurry nor stall thru MCQ in order to reach SIMS. Give each testlet a good enough effort and move on.

    Good luck to you!

@Steph as appealing as the commercials make them out to be, can you really deal with the idea of sitting in your feces for several hours while taking a high stress exam? 😉 I can't. Don't worry about it, everyone is always nervous about needing to go in the middle of the exam!!!

This thread should give you a good laugh and make you feel better: https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/question-about-bathroom-breaks#post-222752

Here is what works for me: I test around 1pm and get up at my usual time for work (6am) and drink my usual intake of coffee and try to eat something light (toast, bagel, etc.) but I cut myself off caffeine around 9:30 and have a last call for easy to digest food and liquids in general around 10:00. I leave for prometric at 11:30 and have made sure to use the restroom at home so I'm comfortable at prometric. I try to be as dehydrated as possible so that I don't have to get up at all! I never take breaks or get up because I'm terrified of losing precious time to the restroom and I don't want the hassle of checking in and out. I just take a few deep breaths between testlets and keep moving forward.

If you cut yourself off from food and liquid at a reasonable time before your test, you will be fine!

Good luck on the 22nd!!!!!!! 🙂

I know people want to use every second for the exam but I agree with some of the other posters. I would get up and take a break even if I didn't need to use the restroom and just plan your timing accordingly.

Sitting down for 3.5 hours straight is not good for critical thinking and there have been several studies I've seen recently about how bad sitting for extended periods of time is for your health. And I ironically post this as I sit at my 8 hour desk job.

In my opinion, you should get up and walk around just so you don't get lethargic. Get up, walk around the waiting room and get the oxygen flowing again.

Going to the bathroom in the middle of an exam was never a thought for me. Once I get that first question, I'm in a different world until I'm done.

@snb – I completely agree. I've taken 3 exams and have never taken a break to use the restroom. I drink light and eat something very small on the way to the exam (i.e. a banana or a granola bar). I make sure to use the restroom a couple of times at the testing center before I start.

Once I sit down, put the headphones on, and start the exam, I get in a zone and don't even have a clue of what's going on around me. Seriously, I can't even believe 3 or 4 hours have passed when I finish the exam.

OMG, that other bathroom break thread is hilarious!! I wasn't thinking I'd need the depends for #2, just pee if I gotta go, just in case. I do like the idea of getting up to get some air and walk around. I have 2 kids, so idk what is wrong but I think I might have bladder issues? TMI…

I need to get one of those Ninja shirts to wear with my Depends. Lol…

I agree with the other posters… I usually just don't drink too much before my exam. Normally, I have to pee every hour, but I drink water throughout the day. Before my exam, I'll limit myself to one drink with food. I'll use the bathroom right before I go into prometric and once I start the exam, I don't even think about it. I've only ever taken a bathroom break during Audit, when I knew I had a ton of time. I didn't even have to go badly, but I figured I'd just get up to stretch and take a 2 minute break.

I think, unless you have a legitimate medical condition, you'll be fine!!

That is my average, about once an hour… I guess you're right. If I'm not drinking coffee and water nonstop like I normally do I'll be fine…

I think you'd also be more uncomfortable if you did have an accident and had to sit there in it. I'd be so anxious about the fact that I had peed myself and I was there, sitting in it, that I wouldn't be able to pay much attention!

Take the bathroom break. It's good to get up for a bit anyway. At my Prometric center, you had to go outside to another section of the complex to find the restrooms. Not far and actually it was nice to get a breath of fresh air, even with the second half of the exam waiting for me.

It seems to me the ickiness of peeing in the Depends is worse, in terms of being distracting, than losing the few minutes it takes to go to the restroom.

    Best of luck to you!
