Hi guys! New to this forum! A little about me or you can skip straight to the question below! Last year I started studying early for the CPA exam but stopped because of classes and various distractions. But a few days ago I started studying again and this time I am going for it! Just waiting for my transcript to be sent and audited, and authorized before I start ordering extra review materials. I am currently using a 2013 Wiley FAR review book which I bought last year.
Anyways, as I am studying for the exam, I noticed that there are A LOT of materials I was not taught in class. The problem with this is, every little new topic/subtopic I come across, I have to spend time looking it up on the internet or read the explanations in the review book till I fully understand it.
When I got started on the inventory chapter, I thought to myself, “Whew this part is going to be a breeze. I’m just going to refresh my memory and probably pick up a few small things along the way and I’ll move on to the next chapter.” Boy was I wrong. It started throwing new topics and new sub topics and new sub topics within those new subtopics at me that I had research and teach myself. I started discovering a whole bunch of small facts here and there as I went over my incorrect answers. Even discovered new additional details to topics I’ve learned in class before. I had to spend time on every little new thing. Next thing I know, 4 days has passed and I still haven’t fully grasp on to some of the topics yet.
Did you guys experience the same problem I did or am I just really behind? I just graduated with a bachelors degree in accounting with no related work experience. Is what I’m doing normal or do you guys have any tips? I am really motivated and determined but this pace is killing me.
