Easy/Not too bad/HARD – Sims: What was THAT?

    AUD exam yesterday…

1st testlet – like someone else said, seemed like AUD 101, I was all happy

2nd testlet – not too bad, got a little more in detail but nothing i couldn’t handle

3rd testlet – seemed like Becker’s FInal Exam 2 questions, HARD and CONFUSING

SIMS – What the heck was that? I got two research questions, which I think I got at least one right the second one was a bit trickier, I tried using the AL for all of my questions but they were just so hard and felt like something I had NOT studied for in Becker’s books. They didn’t test a lot of the stuff that I thought was going to be on there and for which I had studied for and was told by becker to read for in the book. I am guessing a couple of the SIMS came from FAR which I haven’t started studying for yet (not fair). All in all i feel like I guessed my way through the SIMS despite leaving two hours for them.

Becker online, studied like 200 hours for this exam in 5.5 weeks.

Anyone else have the same experience, feel like they bombed half of 3rd testlet and sims and passed?

BEC – 81 (April 14) ***btw how do you add that signature line with your scores?

    BEC - 81 4/08/14
    FAR - 80 8/25/14 Thank you Jesus!
    REG - 69 (Nov 14),80 1/08/15 Thank God!
    AUD - 70 (May 14), xx 5/1/15

I definitely wish I was one of those people who got all 4 exams done in 4 months, but unfortunately LIFE (being a newlywed, stress, adjusting to newlywed life and cpa exam study life, as well as starting a job with a Big4 which I am very happy about) got in the way, just happy that I am passing period!!

I took AUD on Monday and felt the same way about the SIMS. The only reason why I even THINK I have a shot of passing is I just graduated a few weeks ago and took a research accounting class which covered a topic that was on the SIMS that definitely was more like a FAR topic. I wish we can talk more about the exam, but unfortunately we can't “divulge.” Now the waiting game…

@kpb I just took my audit exam and had a similar situation! Without disclosing an info, I basically had a few SIMS that I wouldn't have remotely known how to do if I hadn't already studied for FAR.

    Easy first test

    HARD second test

    Medium/hard third test

Hope I passed ! studied about the same as you.

I took mine on 5/30, I thought MCQ were very easy, I finished all 3 testlets in less than a hour. Then came Sims, I was like, oh ****, I don't understand any of them. So obviously, I walked out of the center feeling I either passed easily or failed miserably since “easy” MCQ and hard Sims meant I messed up big time. Found out earlier I passed with 88. So although I didn't get 90s like other people on this forum, I'm happy with my score, and I'm all done.

    FAR - Aug 2013 Passed
    REG - DEC 2013 Passed
    BEC - FEB 2014 Passed
    AUD - MAY 2014 Passed

    kpb,

AUD was the section that required the most work for me. REG/BEC were somewhat ‘natural' subject areas, and I was able to bully enough useless information into my head for FAR to eek out a passing score. However, for one reason or another, I just don't have the brain to understand the AUD material like a lot of people do, with the key word being ‘understand.' Based on my experience, AUD requires the greatest level of actually learning the concepts as opposed to just rote memorization of flashcards/Becker mnemonics/practice question answers. If you can sit down and force yourself to really dig into the primary core concepts (different kinds of audit risk/transaction cycles come to mind, but i'm sure there's others), I think you'll find it will help you out immensely. It may not hurt to supplement your old study materials with the AUD 10 point combo pack for that extra oompf to nail that 75 or better.

Keep plugging away. It sucks, but believe me, as a multiple exam test taker, it's well worth it when it's all over. best of luck.

Thanks so much for your kind words 🙂 I was thinking of trying cpareviewforfree, I know a girl that said it helped her immensely in understanding everything. I will definitely look into that 10pt combo though. Because I am already into FAR and of other circumstances, I have decided to wait to retake AUD until after I finish FAR and REG (hopefully I won't need to retake those either). I'll have less time after those two exams, so i'd rather take AUD that i've already “done” once, it will be “easier” to study hopefully while maintaing a full time job ( i am not working right now but I will be after REG)

Thank you for the motivation. I definitely want to do my best with this thing and PASS the first time
