Ethics Component After All Four Parts

I am taking my last part (Audit) on 5/2 and I am not certain I fully understand the ethics component that is associated with the exam. I know it something that I need to do but I do not know all of the details. I will be starting my auditing job in July in Connecticut and I know the test depends based on what state you are in. Is there anywhere where I can find more information about this? I would like to try and complete it before my start date.

    Thanks in advance!

    I would start here:

    https://www.ctcpas.org/Content/Becoming-a-CPA/Ethics.aspx

Normally the ethics exam requires you to pass with a high score and is fairly easy so I would not worry too much about it. Also, you can take the exam any time even before passing all four parts and it will not expire. I took mine months ago just to make sure that when I pass my final section nothing will hold me back from getting my license.

Does anyone have any advice on the book format or the on-demand videos? I am leaning toward the book format as I like the idea of a physical tangible book but I am not sure if I sold on the idea of not having any videos to explain the content.

I did the online version. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have done the book version. I had to sit and watch way too many hours of video (or so it felt) I didnt do the ethics exam til I was done with everything else so I was just over video learning!! Also, in VA, the exam is “open book” which is hard to do with videos. 😛

    Hey Jessica,

The link you provided above is only for Connecticut CPAs?

How to register for Ethics exam? Do we need any separate credit for giving Ethics exam ?

Can you give me in short the step by step procedures for registering & going ahead for Ethics exam? From where to get the books, study guide and all?

Is the exam content for Ethics exam same across states? Like for eg- I am under Maine Board…Will Maryland ethics exam content vary or will it be the same ?

@user2701: the ethics exam differs for every state. I found out that for Maine there is no ethics exam so you do not have to worry about it! I found this link from another71 that shows the requirements and that no ethics is required for the state of Maine:

    Oh thanks Jess.

The experience which is stated..can past work exp be of any good? I am asking as I have 5yrs of exp in Banking- Finance area.

Or is it that we need to apply for internship only after passing CPA exams ?

Also I am on H4 visa… do not know how much will I be able to work.

Here is another good website from the Maine accounting board:

    https://www.maine.gov/pfr/professionallicensing/professions/accountants/cpa.html

Look under the requirements for licensure. They are pretty detailed and require some specific experience. It looks like you may be ok if you are in public accounting and working under a licensed CPA. HOWEVER, I would not take my word for it and would recommend calling the board to determine whether your past experience would fulfill the requirements. A lot of it is up to them to decide and is based on judgement so I would talk to them to make sure.

My retake too is on May 21. I rescheduled it. was on May 9th earlier.
I have Wiley study guide & question bank. Not sure will I be able to get through this time as well.
Have NINJA mcq, but not sure will I complete viewing it even once before the exam.

I took my test already and can say that I felt prepared for it using Becker and Wiley testbank. I focused on my weak areas so specifically the calculations/formulas. I am glad I did because I had more computational questions the second time around than I did the first and felt more comfortable with them. However, I was also heavily tested on COSO both times so I would make sure you are solid in that area. I found that Becker prepared me well enough for it that I didnt have to find more material elsewhere so I am sure Wiley and Ninja would be sufficient too. I focused on hammering out as many MCQs as possible so if you think you are short on time I would focus on your weak areas and do the MCQs as much as possible.

How do you feel about the writing portion? A lot of people do not worry about it and I would tend to agree but also just make sure you know basic memo/essay format. It is an easy 15% that you do not want to flop on because it could save you a little if you did not do so well on the MCQs.
