    Is anyone finding that F2- Becker to be a nightmare?

    Not only is the volume of questions overwhelming but I felt like when I read the material I got it but then when I went to the MCQ I was doing horrible!

    Anyone going through this?

    I start my live classes July 9 but I wanted to get at least 4-5 chapters done before then so I can be ahead of the game. Now I am wondering if I should just spend more time on this chapter rather than advance to chapter 3.

    I HATE FAR 🙁

    Yeah F2 is pretty much the worst thing to ever happen in America.

    That's one thing I did not like, questions that had nothing to do with core concepts that will be tested. F2 had a lot of convoluted, poorly worded, and ancient problems we will never see on the exam. Yet the key concepts are hidden in the questions. It's frankly a waste of time like some of the BEC questions were, but we still have to do do it.

    For me F2 and B2 are probably the most hellish things about studying with Becker. FAR was the first section I took and F2 made me question, several times, whether I wanted to really go through with this. Just keep pushing through. You aren't the only one who despises this section. I had the same issues, and am having the same issues with B2.

    Like @kctiger said, just keep pushing through. It gets better.

    I feel like FAR gets better as you get farther along. Things start to come together.

    FAR 02/21/13 - 95
    REG 07/02/13 - 87
    AUD 08/02/13 - 94
    BEC 08/30/13 - 85
    Ethics Exam - 90

    Yes contrary to popular belief…FAR does get better as you go along. At least that's how I see it. except in F-3 the Intercompany transactions…other than that, nothing is as bad as F-2

    With the other sections I was able to narrow things down to specific formulas and important things to remember into 15 pages or less. Anyone have any idea of what that might be for FAR? I always put Peter Olinto's “memorize” bits into my notes, but with Gearty he highlights everything (it was not a problem in tax since everything focused on the same basic basis calculation or tax knowledge).

    It does get better…keep on going. The first few chapters of FAR can be overwhelming esp if its your first section.

    All i can say is if you are using Becker, DO WHAT THEY SAY. If you do what they say, you WILL pass. If you take shortcuts and dont do listen to all the lectures or put the time in to the MCQs and practice test you may struggle.

    Becker was expensive and at times frustrating like im sure all review courses are, but at the end of the day, they got me through it in a short amount of time and it will work for you as well.

    F2 made me switch to the Ninja method – just keep watching the lectures and then save MCQ's for last. I couldn't sit down for more than 10 minutes and finish the F2 MCQ's, so I just decided to be productive in other ways.

    Which means I'll eventually be going back to F2 MCQ's. Blech!

    R - *77*(02/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    A - 71('11); *87*(04/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    F - *76*(08/'13)-Becker & NINJA - "server upgrade" survivor
    B - 60('11); *82*(10/'13) -Becker & NINA

    DONE, DONE, AND DONE.

    Thanks everyone! Glad to know others are feeling this way too and I am not just losing it! @kctiger I feel the same way most days…like do I really want to do this? FAR is my first section and you guys are right Becker really wears you down with the first two sections. I am REALLY looking forward to when it all starts to come together and make sense because I hate feeling like this daily!

    I also bought the Ninja Audio so when I go for walks with my dogs or go to the gym, in the car, sit around I just pop it on and listen for a bit.

    I am trying to plan a wedding, close on a house and study for FAR right now and it's tough. I start working at my public firm Oct. 28 and am praying I can get through FAR & AUD before then!

    Fingers crossed & onto F3 for the day!

    I'm so happy you wrote this post. I started F2 on Monday, and have gone through about 60 MCQ so far, and feel like I've run into a wall.

    The concepts were so easy when I went through the reading/videos, but feels like the MCQ's are totally different than what I reviewed.

    I heard there are sections even harder than this one? It's making me doubt my abilities a bit…

    Don't doubt your abilities, even though it is an understood and even natural reaction to some of the questions they throw your way. Without trying to give too much in the way of exam content, from my experience, FAR was much more difficult in Becker than it was on the real exam. Some of the calculations they have you doing in F2 are just crazy. I could feel myself aging while doing them! Honestly, if you stick to it and bulldoze your way through the material, you will be fine come test day. As @Beavis stated, Becker does a great job of prep, no matter how much you want to go psycho on the software.

    For what it's worth, I think the calculations in BEC are 10x harder than anything in FAR, but I suppose it is all relative to one's own experience.

    @kctiger

    Thank you for the feedback. I like hearing others who took and passed the exam also struggled during the review phase.

    I will be very thankful once things start coming together

    Yes, this thread is making me feel a little better, especially hearing that the Becker F2 computations are historically harder than the exam. For the previous 3 sections, I finished Becker, and used the Wiley Test Bank for my last 1-2 weeks of review. For FAR, are the Wiley questions as in-depth and hard as Becker, or even harder? I ask because I always felt the Wiley questions in the other sections were always a little harder/almost too in-depth compared to Becker.

    Thank god for this post, I swear F2 is going to be the death of me

    #436186

    I'm gonna save F2 for last…

    REG = 58 (02-20-13), 75 (05-01-13)
    AUD = 67 (05-29-13), 79 (08-29-13)
    BEC = 83 (07-31-13)
    FAR = 72 (10-29-13), 69 (02-27-14), 73 (04-16-14), 81(08-13-14)

    Study Materials = Becker 2013 + Wiley Online Test Bank
    (75%) On my Way to a CPA (minus the experience requirement)!
