Facing losing my credits and starting back at zero + TIPS PLEASE!

    Freak out level = maximum.

    Here’s my story:

I started this brutal trip in 2011 shortly after graduating and being hired by a public firm.

I did not pass until my second round in 2012 (BEC in October and AUD in November). I finally began to see the light….and now it is fading.

Since that point I have taken FAR four time and spent the entire year trying to pass and not even getting in the 70’s. After a hectic busy season and my credits expiration looming (BEC on April 20 and AUD in May), I decided to switch gears into REG.

As usual, it is not going as expected. I started by doing Wiley MCQ (all of them) topic by topic in the B-law section. I’m solid on those I got through but started to panic this weekend when I realized I haven’t even touched tax. I have 10 days left and for the last three have been doing 20 set questions of all MCQ, and keeping a notebook divided by module to take notes on EVERYTHING I learn in the process.

I wanted some advice from those who may have been in a time crunch. I have the Audio and Ninja notes from 2013, Becker 2012 and Wiley 2012 (Jeff, if you see this, please read my e-mail requesting updates!). I am thinking of spending this weekend (at least a day) going through my Becker notes from the lectures and combing them onto my Ninja Notes so get a broad overview of everything, and then go back to hitting the MCQ.

I am even sleeping with the audio notes hoping somehow it absorbs…. I really have to pass REG or FAR this window or I am sure I will lose a credit if I try to take them both again before April 20th.

Please, Ninjas give me some hope or advice….:( For those successful smarty pants, what would you do in these last 10 days (or for the end of the testing window for that matter)

So, do I cram both FAR and REG into this window in hopes of having another shot before doomsday?

Or should I extend FAR to the end of the window and study March – Mid April for FAR?

My suggestion would be to focus on 1 part until you pass. Switching never helps due to the amount of materials you have to spit out on test day. As you already did switch to REG, I'd use the remaining days and do nonstop MC. Figure out which area you are the weakest and focus on understanding the concepts. Do those questions you get wrong until you get them right (conceptually).

All you have to do is pass REG this window and FAR by April 1, you are good right? 😉

“Duel studying” doesn't work that well. So go with option extend FAR window.

Can you cram for each one for 3-4 weeks and take one at the end of Jan and the other at the end of Feb?

    Florida:
AUD: 73, 81! Thank you Lord!
BEC: 73, 77! Thank you Lord! and WTB
REG: 71, 82! Thank you Lord! and A71
FAR: 72, 78! Thank you God and my Mommy in Heaven!

I could try, but that hasn't been successful for me.

I work FT (plus some usually) and am a pretty slow ADD learner.

Leaning toward extending both and just starting new rather than cramming

In fact, in the past year I've been saying I can cram in a month.

    Uhhh, nope.

Advice to new ninjas: DO NOT BE ME!

    Hustle, for real.

Ok, ya you should go with your gut on what you can realistically do…

    Florida:
AUD: 73, 81! Thank you Lord!
BEC: 73, 77! Thank you Lord! and WTB
REG: 71, 82! Thank you Lord! and A71
FAR: 72, 78! Thank you God and my Mommy in Heaven!

If I were you, I would keep your REG test date and then schedule FAR for February 28. That way, You will have another shot at both in April.

Take a deep breath and focus on the material. You can do this! Read over the tax material and then do tons of questions. If you get a question wrong, research it and write down why it was wrong. This will create a set of notes to study that covers your weak topics. It was a pain and time consuming, but I told myself that was one less question that I would get wrong on the actual exam.

I know this is easier said than done, but try not to panic. Otherwise, you cannot absorb the material. Good luck!
