    Need advice…

I have been so close to passing AUD

    1st results 74

    2nd results 73

According my grade breakdown is as follows…

    Internal Controls 65

    Review 73

    Communications 73

    Information 87

    Planning 89

    Multiple Choice was “Comparable” 75-80%

    Written Communications “weaker”

    Simulations “Weaker”

I am so close to passing…

    Game plan

Take the test at the end of July giving me over 4 weeks to prepare.

    Review Material: CPA Excel

I have not focused on the Simulations due to the lack of points they are worth. In the above case I would have passed the AUD exam if I would have practiced the simulation/written comm.

    There are 13 test lets

    3- Test-lets a week

    4 Full AUD Practice Exams

What else do you folks recommend?

I personally don't think it was your sims that did it…probably the Internal Control. Internal Control is huge for Audit. I would put a lot of focus on that.

I have a couple of comments. First, I don't really know how much you can actually prepare for the simulations. The practice sims I had were based off the same info from the multiple choice, and my actual exam sims were a lot different. With the essays, make sure you have a good thesis sentence, state your main points, elaborate on each main point in a separate paragraph if you can, and then a good closing paragraph where you restate your thesis and conclude. And use spell check and recheck your whole essay if you have time! Also try and use the research tab for other sim tabs if you have time. I was able to do that for one of my sim tabs in AUD.

Even though your MC are comparable, hopefully you can get even more points there to make up for your weak sims. Do you mark many questions and change answers? I always go with my gut and rarely mark a question for review, and even if I do, I rarely change my original answer unless I misread the question. I'm worried that if I change an answer, my initial answer would have been the right one.

    Good luck!

Try to bring each od these areas up to 80 points

    Internal Controls 65

    Review 73

    Communications 73

Buy Wiley or Gleim test bank MC questions.

Sit down and go through each of these areas and try to nail down a few weaker areas.

Re-do the questions before taking the exam.

Re-do the ones you miss – go back to the text and read the areas where upi are missing a concept.

I bet this would get you over the top.

    Good luck!

If you think you need help on the sims perhaps buy an online package.

Do you recommend Gleim Test prep software for AUD?

I used Becker as my main study material and used Gleim testbank MCQ for additional review.

Re-read the Becker text book for weaker areas and did Progress tests and the Final Exam too.

You may also want to try cpareviewforfree.com

There are 109 internal control questions in Audit.

I had to take Audit twice. Don't be discouraged. Hammer out lots of MC. I'd also practice writing out a few written communications since you scored weaker in that area. Have someone proof it to make sure you aren't slacking with grammar. Best of Luck!!!

I had a lot of time left for sims on my AUD exam. For communications, I used the research tab for both sims, often reproducing the content as is. When I walked out, I thought I couldn't have done the exam any better, mostly based on my Sim experience. I got a 73. Still awaiting my score report. I want to know if reproducing the research material went against me. Any thoughts?

You should never copy any material word-for-word…

I would put a TON…emphasis on TON…of your study efforts into internal control. It's an enormous part of AUD and almost necessary to master in order to pass.

Practice the simulations, but don't overdo them. If you know the material, you'll have success on the simulations. Or at least enough success to pass.

Nail down internal control!!! You will pass!!!

I barely passed Auditing (78) so please take take this with a grain of salt. I only used Gleim. I taught myself Auditing using Gleim online. After I had the questions down to about 90% correct I decided to move on to Gleim test bank cd. I spent about 15 hours answering a 1800 question test. This way I knew exactly which ones were wrong. I then retook the 500+ I missed until I was in the upper 90's. Two weeks before my test I took another 1800 question test and then retook the 300+ I missed. I think Gleim covers most of the MC for Auditing and the program is reasonably priced. By the end I was in the upper 80's of any question they had to offer. On the exam, I completely bombed the sims, and forgot to answer a research question, but I spent a lot of time researching my communications and thought I wrote 2 decent essays (free 10 points). I barely passed, but Gleim was great for MC. I had to switch to Yeager to even grasp FAR. I will go back to Gleim for BEC.

    Go Cubs this weekend

    Audit Passed
    FAR Passed
    REG Passed
    BEC ??

krcpa–I just took my AUD exam yesterday and I am very concerned with the fact that I copied sentences & phrases directly from the research tab. Did you ever get to see your exam results? Did it show that you were weaker in your written communications?

Bshep, thanks for mentioning that site…I thought I was prepared for Thursday, but I'm getting destroyed on these questions for one reason or another. Hopefully I can work most of these tonight!

also, where can i get the gleim MC bank for audit/other sections? Now that I'm looking over some of those questions on that website, I'm feeling less and less confident for my test in 36 hours. Thanks all.

Internal Control killed me on my exam too. I got a 55 on Internal Control and 74 on the overall exam. Close does not count with the AICPA. I only had 8 days to cram for another AUD exam before REG expired. I used Yaeger Cram for AUD and I worked every question in the Wiley Book for Internal Control.

I came out of the AUD exam singing “AVE MARIA.” I hope this is a good omen. However, it is not over until the AICPA says that it is over. I want so much to post on this forum that I am finished with the CPA exams FOREVER!
