Failed AUD 3x

I feel sick to my stomach. I only have 2 windows remaining to pass AUD and FAR before my BEC credit expires, and I am just wondering,

    1. Should I start restudying for AUD and postpone FAR, or stay on schedule with FAR on 4/25? And if I take FAR on 4/25, should take AUD on 5/31 or sometime in July or August?

    2. Also, has anyone tried Roger for FAR or AUD? I tried the demo and liked his lectures. Would you recommend it?

    3. Is 5 weeks enough for a AUD retake?

IMO, if you have a credit expiring I would take both in Q2. I wouldn't waste a window especially if I had already studied for one section in the past.

typically when I failed at the end of one window, if I was close, I would study through the black out month and take it right at the beginning of the next window then take the other exam at the end of the next window. Gives you 1.5 months for the exam you already have decent background on and 2 full months to study for the other one.

I wish I could take AUD at the beginning of April, but the first 3 Saturdays of April are booked, and unfortunately I don't think I can take any days off during that time period.

I dont know your work schedule during the week but remember that the test centers are opened after 5-6pm meaning that you can schedule your test late during the afternoon. If not, find another testing center in the area. I would do the imposible to take it as soon as possible given your circumstances.

I would agree with retaking both. You can't take a weekday off (make up the difference by working a Sunday or something) or work a Saturday around the exam? Hopefully it's work related and your work is understanding!

    BEC - PASS (79)
    AUD - PASS (63, 71, 74, 74, 83)
    REG - PASS (88)
    FAR - PASS (58, 89)

I'm just concerned about taking it at the beginning of April. I have a field audit on March 16-27 and given that both myself and the in-charge auditor is lacking in the experience department, we probably will have our hands full on the field audit as it is. I can probably get some studying in during that period but not much. So if I were to plan for AUD in April I probably only have the 3 weeks before the audit and maybe the 1.5 weeks after the audit (if taking it on April 7, 8, or 9). Would that be enough time?

FYI here are the available dates for April for my testing center:

    1 2

    7 8 9

    13 15 16

    24 25

    27 29 30

Sorry to hear that you didn't pass 🙁 I agree with the above suggestions, take both in Q2 and do what you can to make it happen. What areas of Aud are not clicking for you? You studied plenty of it in the past so I would think solid week may be enough to refresh and retake?

I used Roger for FAR. He's lectures are great, entertaining and to the point. That's his comparative advantage vs. other offerings out there. His book is also decent and relatively easy to follow; however, the MCQs and SIMs leave a lot to be desired IMO. Definitely supplement is needed in that regard.

It is possible that a solid week may be enough to refresh and retake. In addition, I'm looking into what's the best way to work around the 2 week field audit right before April. If I start studying for AUD now, would it be sufficient to take it in April? The earliest dates available are April 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9.

I think you can do it! I'd say focus on your weaker areas now, then do your field audit (while listening to audio notes or some light studying when possible), and afterwards a solid week of a review before exam. Then you'll have the rest of the test window for your “everything but the kitchen sink” FAR study approach 🙂

I think that time would be enough. Come on you can do it! I would recommend the Ninja notes too. They are precise and convenient when you are on the road and have a few minutes to study. Instead of looking at your facebook page you can look at the notes and study.

Thanks for the insight everyone. I am thinking of scheduling AUD on 4/7 as soon I get my NTS, and postponing FAR to 5/31. I am going to try to watch all of Roger's lectures and do the corresponding Roger's MCQ and finish that by the weekend of March 14, before the 2 week audit. I am going to try to get some studying in during the field audit but not sure how things will go. And I plan to use Ninja MCQ and write down question that I missed after going through Roger's lectures and corresponding MCQ. Hopefully 4th time's the charm, as it was in my case for REG.

4th time was the charm for me. I would stick with Audit since it'll still be fresh. If I can do it, you can do it too!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I just got my NTS and a Saturday spot opened up, so I'm able to schedule it on 4/11.

Since one of your posts says you work in audit, I would put it off until after FAR as I felt AUD was the one that I had learned about the most in my job, having taken it after 10 1/2 months as an auditor. I work at a regional firm though and had done everything from audits to comps, government and commercial, etc. so experience may vary. If you are going to be exposed to a lot of different assurance tasks in your job I think you will pick up a lot of it during that time and it will make it easier. FAR you just have to study sadly, so keep at it while “studying” for AUD on the job.

    FAR - 90
    REG - 90
    BEC - 91
    AUD - 99

Unfortunately, my job has very little to do with the material that is tested on the exam.

Edit: Just got my score report. “Stronger” in planning the engagement, “weaker” in everything else. Yikes.
