Failed Audit…Please encourage me :(

So I failed Audit with a 65 and I know it was probably the sims that gave me the most trouble. While I am super bummed, I am trying to be optimistic and just go harder the next time. I already paid for the reexamination request this morning and am hoping to schedule for my retake for the first week of April. Is this a reasonable time frame? I have studied all of the material already so I am hoping restudying won’t be completely terrible. I am working right now but I am willing to commit to studying in the morning, during my commute, at night, and definitely on weekends. I used Yaegar CPA to study for Audit the first time but I just switched to Becker and I also have the Ninja audio. Any words of encouragement would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Sorry to hear this Aisha. It's such a tricky exam. I thought I did really well and ended up with 80. I had very easy SIMS.
I definitely think its good to cross study with different prep providers. 65 is really close, and I think a month should be enough.

If you did tons of MCQ, study a little more theory. If you emphasized theory do more MCQs. I really think to do well you should do both. I focused on studying the concepts and not so many MCQs.

You'll pass, I'm proof. Just stick with the plan. These tests are random as hell, you may have gotten a bad one. 40% of it is what you know and the other 60% is the damn test they give you lol. Keep at it!

    CPA (2017)

    REG:  75

    BEC:  76

    FAR:  77

    AUD: 78

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)

Keep at it Aisha – you can do it! I think alot of it is determined by what test you get that day. Also, I think sometimes people get too bogged down in the details. 90 questions really isn't enough to ask about everything in detail. I think a month is reasonable for a retake, especially if you focus on the topics that give you the most difficulty. Also, become more familiar with the AL – it can be a life saver. Good luck!

For Audit Beckers did a great job, highly recommended. Go through all of their lectures along side do all the questions as if its your first time seeing this topic and i have no doubt you will pass.

    FAR-76 First attempt.
    AUD-79 First attempt.
    REG-79 First attempt.
    BEC-79 First attempt.

Mitch, you are pretty consistent there.

As for encouragement, it is time to start over. I failed Regs with stronger than on everything except… SIMS. I must have bombed them. I passed it when I really went over the SIMS. It is easy to ignore the SIMS because it is so much easier to practice MCQs. I studied the AUD SIMS quite a bit and I like to think it helped. I just got my score today and the diagnostic hasn't come back t me yet.

You will do fine but reschedule it for early April and work on it as it is still fresh on your mind.

    Best of luck

For audit, just do as many progress tests in Becker as you can. IDK what your schedule is like, but in review phase I did about 100+ mqs a day for a week and took notes and reread areas that I got wrong. By the time I took the exam, I felt like I've seen every possible question. Its easy to do so many practice mcqs for audit since they're relatively quick (vs the long computational ones that far, reg and bec all have) KEEP ON CHUGGING!

    AUD: 98
    REG: 91
    BEC: 86
    FAR: 83

DONE DONE DONE and DONE all on the first try! It IS possible, just keep on studying!

    @OP

I remember how devastated I was when I failed AUD because I was absolutely certain I passed. Use that horrible feeling and channel it into about 5,000 MCQs over the next month, you will probably pass. I highly recommend getting NINJA MCQs, it changed the game for me. I was failing with Becker and NINJA helped me pass AUD on my second try and BEC on my first try. I will definitely be getting it for REG too.

But whether you get NINJA or not, just practice practice practice with whatever materials you have. I have felt defeated by these exams too and am living proof that you can turn it around if you put the time in. Stay positive and it'll be so worth it once you see that >75 on score release day. Good luck.

@AshiaJ I also failed the AUD first time I was also using the Yaeger and ninja MCQ ,but I didn't switch to any other study material as because my ninja was about to expire in 20 days so I decide to retake my exam in 20 days.
but for the retake, I started from scratch. I watched all the video one more time and believe me for the second time each and every word of Garry Sir make more sense, did all the MCQ's 2 more times and read the answer explanations even if my answer choices was right and if I was having any problem then I emailed directly to Gary sir and he called me each time for explaining me the concept.
along with the Yaeger, I also did the ninja MCQ and CPAreviewforfree questions.
I also made myself familiar with the authoritative literature second time which definitely helped me lot and I got 83
