Just found out I received a 65 (66 and 62 previously) on REG. I have exhausted Ninja and WTB MCQs. What do I do now? I have 10 weeks to pass REG.

I need 10 points! Are there any crash courses out there which people loved? I have been using CPA Excel, but I think I am missing the fundamental understanding of some of the REG concepts…

Slightly discouraged tonight, but getting back on the horse tomorrow…

    AUD - 75
    BEC - 75
    FAR - 76
    REG - 76
I want those initials next to my name!!!!

    FAR - 76
    AUD - 75
    BEC - 75
    REG - 76

Now I need some experience!!! And some networking...

I'm sorry to hear that. How many times are u doing the MCQ? I know that for me doing them once is really not enough.

What were ur weakest areas? I know Property tax and entities tax are probably the most tested topics…are u very comfortable with those?

I kept scoring in the 60s until I started hammering MCQs like crazy. Also, do u write notes? I write down all my wrong answers and then read them over several times leading up to the exam. It really does help!!

Best of luck…u can do this.

    AUD: 84
    FAR: 75
    BEC: 78
    REG: 75

    DONE-ZO!!!!!!!!

This won't be the most popular advice, but focus more on business law and ethics. Property and entities, which are always the suggestions to drill down on, make up the exact same amount of the exam as BLaw and Ethics. The difference, in my opinion, is that it is damn near impossible to truly ace any of the tax sections. There is just too many minute details that even a seasoned tax preparer will get a few wrong.

Business law and ethics, on the other hand, are what I would call “aceable.” If you dedicate enough time to truly understanding the overarching themes of law and ethics, you can scoop up every last point on those questions. It also doesn't require constant drilling leading up to the test because I feel like once you have a good understanding, the logic base that you have created will help you with every question come exam day. After all, on the high end, they are 40% of all the MCQs!

I really liked the Wiley book for REG. I didn't use it for my first try and I got a 65. I read the entire tax portion for my retake and I felt like I finally got the bigger picture that I was missing before. It's only about $50 and there are constant breaks to work MCQ to make sure you are getting the concepts. You still need to use a test bank for more questions, but the book really helped me.

Last Chance I feel your pain. I just found out I failed with Reg with 74 for the second time. Somehow I feel that the NASB Gods decide who to pass and who to fail.

I failed with a 72 and am broken. My first attempt I got a 63. I don't know how to prepare for the retake. My first time, I used Becker. Second time (like Mamabear suggested), I read the Wiley book and tackled Ninja MCQs. At this point, I don't want to add any new material. What can I do to get that freaking 75?!!

Cracked- have you tried working SIMs? I feel like REG Sims are different than all the other exams, so for my re-take I am tackling all SIMS I can get my hands on. You CAN do this! See ya in Q2

Get Becker. If you put the time in you'll get the passing grade out. No offense to the ninjas – but I only used Becker

    AUD - July 2014 - 76
    REG - August 2014 - 82
    FAR - November 2014 - 78
    BEC - January 2015 - 81

    DONE!!!!

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you're hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

@Mamabear – Thanks for your encouragement. I'll get back at it asap. @Gabe – I didn't like how the sims were structured in the Ninja material so I might use Becker to practice sims. As for mcq's, I guess I'll go between ninja and becker with Wiley to read any trouble topics.

My becker expired, so I am using Ninja SIMS and wiley SIMS (that a friend is letting me borrow). I youtube/google trouble topics, sometimes it helps. I also post in the REG study forum. Good luck and we WILL conquer this in Q2!

@ Cracked…..I know you dont want to spend more money but I think you would like the structure of the Gleim SIMs. You can buy a test bank of the SIMs only I believe. They are very detailed and explain things well. Dont give up you got this!

    BEC - 82 (GLEIM)
    AUD -85 (GLEIM)
    FAR -75 (GLEIM)
REG - 59, 80 (Gleim + NINJA Audio and NINJA MCQ)

@ Last chance, sorry to hear that.

After seeing the scores released, I failed my second attempt at REG. My first score was a 32 and now it was a 42. I am clearly not studying hard enough or understanding the material. I work full-time and tend to study after work from around 7:30pm to 10pm. I really need advice on what I need to do in order to get higher scores.

Can someone please advise and help? I am using Becker. My dream is to become a CPA but I am so overwhelmed and frustrated at this point. I am also currently studying for BEC.

PLEASE help. I need the most advice I can get.

Go nuts on the blaw stuff, sec stuff, and make sure you understand those reasonable basis, substantial authority, more likely than not standards along with the percentages of them and what they relate to as far as listed transaction, disclosed or undisclosed. I think knowing these topics along with the other tax stuff will get you to the promised land. Definitely know your schedule k's and m-1 reconciliation schedules too.
