I’m currently preparing to sit for FAR for the first time. I’m on a big deadline, as my credit for BEC will expire at the end of May, so I’m planning to take FAR on April 3. I’m studying for about 4 hours on the weekdays and 16-20 hours on the weekends, so I’m not concerned with getting the material covered. But as I finish up F2, I cant help but notice all the small tiny details. In your experience, how important are these? Is this something I should spend extra time on?

Why are you taking it so early in the window if you credit for BEC won't expire until the end of May? I see you took AUD in February. If you don't pass that, take it early April and then use the remaining eight or so weeks to study for FAR. One month just isn't enough time in my opinion for FAR. The tiny details aren't hugely important, but you need to know something about a lot of things!

    MD Candidate: 10/1/14

    FAR - 87 (11/23/14)
    REG - 87 (1/30/15)
    BEC - 89 (4/19/15)
    AUD - 98 (5/30/15)

    Ethics - 100

    Experience - In Progress!

I wouldn't stress over the details too much. If you're using Becker they will key you in to areas that are generally heavily tested and that is where you are going to want to zero in a little more. You will always get a couple questions on some minute detail but that shouldn't be what makes or breaks your score.

I don't know how helpful my opinion is but, from my experience you prepare as well as you possibly can, and learn as much as possible. Then you hope you get a test that tests over something you have knowledge of. It's impossible to know everything. I have failed many of these tests and passed 4 (1 expired) From my experience the one time I felt the most prepared i failed. I was scoring 80% in everyone of the test areas and just got a test that asked questions I didn't know. When it came to FAR honestly all I knew was derivatives and governmental accounting. I was no where near as prepared thought about skipping the exam. I got a test that felt like it only tested on areas I understood so I passed. If I took FAR the next day I could have easily gotten a 50.

At this point I just walk into the test knowing I did everything I could and hoping its enough.

If I find out that I did pass AUD (March 10), I'm planning on moving FAR to late May. I felt like this was the best way to maximize my time with the study time I have avaliable at this very moment. I just want to be as prepared as I possibly can and spend as much time as I can on the heavily tested areas.

I wish FAR was step up similar to the way REG is. I felt like the large key points were presented first and the smaller “low hanging fruit” was thrown in at the end in R8. It kinda threw me off when Becker presented some smaller topics (or what I felt like were smaller, less important topics) in F2.

I am studying for FAR. This is my second round of completing CPAexcel review course. I plan to sit for it April 15. I am in the Inventory section. I am struggling because the details seem too much to remember. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I think I will do my best and not stress about all the details.

    Has any used Ninja MCQ?

What do you think of it for MCQ practice during final review week instead of questions completed in review courses like Roger or CPAExcel?

    REG - 77 (05/30/14); Failed (11/28/09)
    BEC - TBD; Failed (05/29/09)
    FAR - 74 (04/30/15);
    AUD - TBD

I love the Ninja MCQ. I havent purchased them for FAR yet, but I used them extensively for REG. I'm also using Becker for my lectures. If for some reason I am unable to finish up before my Becker expires, I will use Ninja exclusively. I feel like it really is the best for the price you pay.
