Yes, if you stay diligent and focused and treat it like a full-time job. The suggested study time for FAR is 200hrs, over 5 weeks that is 40hrs per week, just make sure they are 40 QUALITY hours a week… Good Luck!

    FAR - 81 (8/31/12)
    AUD - 93 (10/19/12)
    BEC - 79 (11/27/12)
    REG - 92 (2/8/13) DONE! All 1st attempt!

200 hours? I heard 130-150, and I think that is per RogerCPA.

I am using Becker 2012 review.

I took REG that had 8 chapters, but honestly 2 or 3 chapters weren't even on the exam. Is FAR really on 10 chapters?

if I choose 6wks, can be 150 hrs?

    thanks people

You never know what is going to be on the exam. So it's best to prepare for anything they could throw at you. In terms of doing it in 5 weeks, I think it depends on the person. I passed with two weeks of prep while taking two summer classes. I've had friends, who have had trouble passing with months of prep (but they did have full-time jobs and families, which makes it more difficult). The point being, I think deep down you know whether or not it's feasible for you, so just follow your gut feeling.

    B- 8/13/2012- 92
    A- 7/19/2012- 83
    R- 5/30/2012-82
    F- 7/3/2012- 90

Well, the 200hrs is what Yaeger suggests, but it will obviously be different for everyone based on their past experience and how quickly and efficiently they learn. The bottom line is you need to get through all of your material and still have time for a good review, the actual time it takes you to do that is arbitrary.

    FAR - 81 (8/31/12)
    AUD - 93 (10/19/12)
    BEC - 79 (11/27/12)
    REG - 92 (2/8/13) DONE! All 1st attempt!

Yes, FAR is absolutely doable in 5 weeks and I agree with Jeff's numbers wholeheartedly.

NIU CPA Review Correspondence is awesome!

I passed all four sections on the first attempt

Thanks Jeff. But is that based on your NINJA notes or other just standard rate on any study material (again I m using becker)

@tjones43. I agree with your previous post that it all depend on how someone consume material. I am really worried about how in the world 10 chapter be read and reviewed?? REG 8 chapter were long for me. (Passed on 1st try)

I put in about 80, but I use FAR stuff daily. I think the average per Roger is about 130. 200 is CRAZY talk and you will end up making yourself insane.

^I don't know. I think ALOT of people study full-time for about 5 weeks or so (which equates to 200 hours).

They are probably not all that efficient. I know I wasnt! But it's good to budget your expected inefficiency into your schedule – and then your actual quality study time may come closer to Jeff's recommendation.

@Shay: Far with becker for 5 weeks full-time is plenty. But it depends on your study style. If you are one of those people who like to watch the lectures AND read the chapters, do all the MCQs 2 times each (!!), or supplement BECKER with X,Y or Z,…etc it could take you 6 months. I didn't do any of that. But if you are one of those people who like to do one or more of the above, it will take you longer than 5 weeks.

    REG - Passed!!
    BEC - Passed
    FAR - Passed
    AUD - Passed

    Study Materials: Becker basic course

@Shay, I think given that you have the ability to study full time in that 5 weeks it's very doable. I studied only 6 weeks for FAR while working full time with a kidney infection and somehow (miraculously) passed on the first attempt. I guarantee that at least half of the hours I spent studying probably weren't even productive. If you can get in 35 hours a week, I'd say go for it! Good luck!!

    F - PASSED (11/26/11)
    A - PASSED (1/14/12)
    B - PASSED (7/14/12)
    R - PASSED (8/31/12)
    Ethics Exam - 95 %

Just waiting to be able to put those three little letters behind my name...

    @ Shay

It is definitely possible. I work fulltime and I passed FAR the first try with about 5.5 weeks of hardcore studying. Anything is possible.

    AUD - 69, 78
    BEC - 80
    REG - 89
    FAR - 80
