On Tuesday I purchased Becker for FAR. It was very expensive…Ouch 🙁 and they send the material to wrong address. So I am going to pick it up the material today by myself to UPS. However, I was wondering…Is it possible to pass FAR with 7 weeks of studying, if I put 8-12 hours of studying a day??? I worked as a senior accountant for wholesaler in Chicago and was laid off in the end of last May. I took AU on July 5th and on July 10th I passed Ethics Exam. I thing FAR will be the exam that I can relate the most….and for that reason it will be a little bit easier than REG and AU where I had to memorize everything…although I know that FAR contains the most material..

Do you think it is possible or am I dreaming????…or maybe you did it and you can share your experience and advise… I would appreciate that..

You should be more than fine if you are studying 8 hours a day. I did it in 7 weeks studying 30 hours a week.

You can definitely do FAR in 7 weeks studying full time. Good luck!

Then I will try hard…. Thanks CPAMommyof3 and bbrandenburg10 for your opinion…. I want to start working as soon as pass all CPA exams, because I don't want to be again in the situation where I am tired from work and studying…..and I can't do both right…

I studied for FAR for 22 days averaging about 6 hrs per day. I highly recommend ninja mcq for far but I also used Becker for the lectures.

I spent just over 6 weeks, 30 hours a week. 8-12 hours for 7 weeks is probably 2-3x as much as you actually need to study.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

Definitely! I studied for FAR for 8 weeks, while working full time and got my best score of all the sections. I worked with a girl who passed FAR studying for 4 weeks full time. Good luck!

    I'm doing in 4 weeks

I think I could use more time, but 7 seems like a stretch.

It depends on where you are at. I've worked a few internships and just finished my masters. It's probably a lot more fresh and I have a lot more time (don't start work until August) than most people studying. I study 5-7 hours a day and take a day break a week usually.

Added up, that's about 120 hours at least. Most suggestions say 75-150 hours of quality study time.

    REG - 92
    AUD - 90
    BEC - 82
    FAR - 82

    Hello all future CPA's!

I am new to the forum and just started Becker this past Saturday (7/12). I am using the live classroom format as well as all the online materials. My current plan is to study 4-5 hours daily leading up to the exam with heavier studying on the weekends (full time accountant). Taking FAR sometime towards the end of August.

My study process is to watch the video lectures, do the corresponding homework, and go over anything I struggle with afterwards. Then, go to class and have the instructor go over everything I studied before moving to the next section. How do the rest of you approach studying? Does that seem like a decent approach?

Thank you in advance for any replies and good luck to all!

That's what I'm doing… I'm on F2 now and my exam is at the end of august. I'm reading the SUBCHAPTER on my own first.. then listening to the online lecture of that section… then attempting the homework for that section. I'm taking notes on the homework problems. Writing out the Q&A and the reason why it's right and the other reason that make it wrong. They say you have to look/read something 3x before you can remember it. So this should be sufficient. I'm going to do this until I get to F10 then going to read the outline of every chapter (for becker it's in the upper right hand corner of each lecture) and re-do all the homework problems plus take the 2 practice exams. The progess tests are helpful also to keep older material fresh. I also have the flashcards that I go through once right before bed. Any extra minute you get to review can't hurt you.

I am doing FAR on Aug 13, and started studying today Aug 17. So that gives me 3.5 weeks. Got some experience in accounting I suppose, but very limited in U.S. GAAP. Not saying this is an optimal setup, but I think it is more than possible. I am a bit under time pressure for sure though, and it will be a real challenge despite the fact that I have some experience and despite the fact that I am movitated to pass as I simply just HAVE TO (partly given my expensive and time consuming travel to the U.S. to take the exam, and due to upcoming promotion).

    3.5 weeks, let's go!!

Big 4 Audit Manager from Europe here to pass the CPA in the U.S. of A in 2014! Niiice!

    AUD - 95 / Jul 15 / 130h over 4 weeks
    FAR - 86 / Aug 14 / 240h over 4 weeks
    (11 week break)

    REG - 81 / Nov 14 / 200h over 4 weeks
    BEC - 87 / Nov 17 / 30 h over 2.5 days

My last attempt was 4-5 weeks and got 74, doing the same this time. You'll be alright.

    FAR - 71, 68, 74, (8/31/14) 78 ✔
    REG - 67, 71, 71, (10/18/14) 78 ✔
    BEC - (11/29/14) 86 ✔
    AUD - 73, (4/4/15) 86 ✔

I can't believe this is over! 2 years and 3 months..
