Hi all! I’m down to the stretch run on my FAR studying. I recently started a new job and didn’t know that this was my “busy season” with all the SOX direct assist time I’ve been having to do. Between work and personal commitments I’ve only had about 15-20 hours of solid study time. I’m still planning to show up and take my test as scheduled and hope for a good draw of questions that I know. What is the best way to max this study time, not only for this test, but for the retake I’m certain will be coming.

I'm in the same boat. I'm just going to take it to punish myself for only getting 70% through Becker. I want to know where I stand as well, but it's going to be right back to studying on Wednesday for this guy!

P.S. – I hate people that say FAR material isn't hard. This is EASILY the crappiest and longest exam…

I vote to reschedule for a later date as well. No sense in throwing away money if you don't even have a prayer of passing, unless your NTS is about to expire, in which case go for it.

I packed, sold my house and moved at the end of July, then took FAR in August. I then finished mini tax season on 10/15, moved again a week later and I am now retaking FAR again on Monday and I am set to do 25 hours of prep between now and Monday. I have studied approximately 125 hours for this retake and I'm still very anxious to be taking it in a few days. Good luck!!

Why don't you comb through your book? See what you know very well and what you don't know. Focus heavy on what you don't know and then review lightly the other topics. Hit a lot of MCQ but don't focus on quantity focus on quality. If you get it wrong, why? Make a mental note, watch youtube videos for other explanations of difficult topics if you're having trouble picking them up. Be sure to focus on government/NFP and Ninja Audio made a statement to practice the Pensions outside of the audio and Roger made a comment in his review to make sure to practice a lot of statement of cash flows because those show up often. I imagine if you are familiar with all those topics then you can hit others. GOOD LUCK. I'll be testing the same day for my retake of FAR.

I am in the exact same situation as the OP.

Mine is Monday (11/23). It will be a miracle if I pass. I do not know the JEs down cold or the IFRS details too well. I am focusing on the Non-Profit and Govt. this weekend to try and pick up points there. Those 2 topics are about 20-25%. Other things to hit on the weekend are Leases, Bonds, and statement of Cash Flows.

I just did not want a window to go by without attempting the test. Then there is the remote possibility of a pass since so many people were sure they bombed all of the SIMS and flagged 8+ questions in MCQ but came out with a score over 80%.

I am NOT freaking out or doing all night study sessions for this one like I did in the past when I knew I was not at the level to pass a section but just destroyed myself trying to accomplish the impossible on that particular test date.

No reschedule as my NTS will expire 1/1/2016. Has anyone mentioned lately that this dead windows are stupid?? Looks like I'll be taking this on the chin. I'm down to my last, so its me and my Ninja Blitz until exam time.

@Jeff if I pull this off I'll have a heck of a testimony for Blitz!

Good luck to all Ninjas testing this week. Here's to a good draw of questions in areas you are strong in!

I just took FAR on Saturday. It was brutal and I don't feel well about it at all. However I DID finish and had a pretty good run at the Sims.

It was a TON of government, heavy on inventory, and had many IFRS and trading security questions.

Go over your gov't financial statements tonight. They didn't ask any thing about JEs, but many many black and white theory questions on gov't financials. bleh.

Of course, my test could be completely different from yours, but I as shocked by the amount of government crap they tested even knowing it would be a solid 20% beforehand and so light on pensions.

I took it today and I though the govt and non-profit stuff they ask about was a gift because I knew it. The answers were very clear cut and no interpretation was required.

The SIMS were brutal but at least I got my research right.

I took FAR today and even with my limited studying, I think I may have pulled it off. I focused hard on pensions and Gov/NFP and got a ton of questions related to both. Since I didn't get time to really hit everything I ended up skipping IFRS entirely and thankfully I didn't get many questions related to that topic. The sims were brutal. I ended up not being able to do many (ok…none at all) MCQs since my schedule was super tight and it probably will end up hurting me the most on the SIMS. I'm hoping for the best and I'm probably being overly optimistic, but I really think I had a basic understanding of everything.

Thanks Jeff for the awesome Blitz videos. I truly owe whatever score I make entirely to you! I'll keep everyone updated on how it turns out. Fingers crossed!!
