    Related to FAR, there are many true or false type Sims in Wiley book as well as Sims asking to choose from the list whic are quite straight forward. Do these type of questions usually show up in the real exam? Or should I expect Sims like JE preparation and Sims which need calculations??

    Can any one give some feedback?

    @BaseballCPA

    Thank you very much for the link. However, I did not mean to ask anything about exam contents. I just wanted to know if the Sims structured in Wiley book is something similar to exam Sims structure. Yet, if this is considered an exam disclosure then I don't want to know and don't want anyone even to discuss about it.

    Thanks again.

    @Ali Alabdullatif,

    I think this is fair for me to say. Sims are totally unexpectable, as long as you know the concept really well you should be fine. Focus on MCQs 🙂 Good luck!!

    @Ali – No problem. Exam disclosure is a very hairy area. You would be VERY surprised as to what constitutes exam disclosure per the AICPAs standards. It's better to be safe than sorry. Best of luck to you.

    BaseballCPA, could you provide a link to the standards you reference. I looked for it and didn't find it.

    If you search for the AICPA confidentiality policy statement, you will find results for the same statement that you must agree to before taking the exam; bullet point 1 describes the candidate's responsibility in not divulging the nature or content of any question or answer under ANY circumstances.

    @katiekanton I noticed you took audit, you can also look it up in your audit study material since professional responsibilities were tested on in that exam.

    Yes, but the part covered in audit materials is ET Section 501 – Acts Discreditable, specifically section .07. That rule says nothing about format of the exam, but prohibits release of specific questions and answers. It certainly gives no indication that asking “Does the exam have true/false questions on it” would be a violation. So I was assuming BaseballCPA was referring to something else. I was also hoping he could give us some examples of the surprising things he mentioned.

    @ BaseballCPA

    May I know which review book that you use for your exams; and do you have any study tips to pass FAR and REG only with 1 attempt?

    And lastly, how long/how much study time did you put to pass FAR and REG?

    I'll greatly appreciate your input…

    @Katie – There's nothing wrong with describing the format of an exam (e.g. there are 90 mcqs and 7 tbs), but telling someone that the sims from your exam experience were journal entry intensive is something I would consider to be a disclosure of the nature of your exam. Now, with that said, I'm not gonna do research for you; I don't really care if you find it or not…I'm just making OP aware that I believe asking someone to tell him/her about the format of their sims may be a disclosure. Now personally, I'm done with this exam and I'm not your mom, so if you feel the need to challenge me, go ahead and disclose all you want and then you can tell the AICPA that you thought it was alright because you couldn't find a more specific policy…I was just trying to be helpful in case he/she was not aware of the sensitive ground upon which he was treading.

    @Katie Kanton: “Does the exam have true/false questions on it” yes, according to the aicpa website… but that's very different from what was was originally asked, “Do these type of questions usually show up in the real exam”. the only way to answer that would be to disclose what was on an exam you took. I understand this can sometimes be confusing so i hoped that helped 🙂

    What the hell, BaseballCPA? I wasn't challenging you. I asked a simple question about what you were talking about since you've already been through this process and I'm just starting, and I hadn't come across anything but that section .07 yet. I haven't taken the Ethics class either, and I assume something's covered in there.

    @Kevin, Although I disagree that saying “Wiley is heavy on True/False type questions that are not reflective of the actual exam” constitutes disclosure of CPA questions and answers, I appreciate the civil answer.

    @Katie – Ok, then I'm sorry…I thought you were being sarcastic because I didn't like cite the ruling or anything…my fault then. Truthfully, I don't know if there is specific language that dictates exactly what you can and can't say, it's just always been my experience through forums that even asking if J/E's is on the exam is considered disclosure, although I must say I'm not 100% certain. Sorry for being a d!ck.

    @CPAGo – I used Becker for all 4 exams, although looking back, I wish I would have supplemented REG with a Wiley-type resource…I did not feel very prepared for REG using only Becker. My study tips, unfortunately, are quite general, and things I'm sure you've heard a million times before. I went through each sub-topic (e.g. sec 1 – 10 of Far 1), took notes, took the mcqs at the end of each subsection, took the supplemental questions at the end of each large section, took Becker Final Exam 1, conducted my review, took Becker Final Exam 2, and then took the exam. My process was duplicated for REG, although I did rewrite some notes for that section. I studied 5 or 6 weeks for FAR, 4 or 5 weeks for REG, and then 2 weeks each for AUD and BEC. However, I urge you not to compare your study schedule to mine; I was in the master's program so I could study at odd hours of the day and night. It is MUCH more difficult (I'm sure) if you work an 8-6, have a wife, kids, etc. Best of luck to you.
