I am currently studying for the FAR exam, which I scheduled for the end of May. I am feeling a little overwhelmed since I can’t seem to keep up to the study schedule that wiley has provided. I am studying to really learn the lessons but then I am wondering if the areas where I am spending most of my study time will even be on the exam. Any suggestions.

I know how exactly how you feel and from what I've read this is a fairly normal feeling with FAR. There is just way too much information. The best thing to do is just power through and try not to get behind on studying…easier said than done right? I can't say much for CPA excel since I'm studying with Roger and I remember I took twice as long as they designated for any particular section. Some people are quick learners, while others like me are slower. Where are you in the material? Starting, half way? I don't recommend skipping any sections or breezing through any parts…I did it and it burned me on the first try.

This strategy really helped me with hard to understand sections:

    1. when I got stuck on a particular section, I would re-watch the video, google for more information, did t-accounts and journal entries over and over to figure out the accounting. I tried for this not to take more than 1-2 hours so I wouldn't get hung up any one particular section/topic.

    2. Worked only MCQs on those subsections that gave me the hardest time. Once I started a mini session of 10-20 questions I'd start to see a pattern to the question and that would really help. On questions where the answer is an amount or number, read the last sentence first. Helps to narrow down what the question is asking and then go back and read the whole question…best tip from Roger. 🙂

    2. Do cumulative MCQs on previously covered sections constantly throughout your study process. This will help to retain everything you learned since again it's so much info.

    Good luck with everything!
