I have two down (FAR and REG)…i have BEC and AUD left. Everyone says BEC is “sooooo easy” and i went into studying with the same mindset as everyother part i took. i didnt let anyone’s opinion on BEC alter my study habits. However, I have found BEC to be absolutely brutal and becker is not clear on ANYTHING. im not really sure what to do. i already went through the hw one time and im trying (keyword is trying) to get through it again. my exam is on feb 3. The math is so difficult in my opinion, and becker’s explanations are just massive paragraphs of math, note A, note B, squeeze, thats how u answer it. Any advice on how to study, what to expect from the exam, and any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I have until 3/31/2014 until FAR expires and although most people say thats a long time away, i feel that itll come up quicker than i think. If i lose FAR, then im changing careers…i sat for that test three times and there’s no way im sitting for it a fourth time. HELP!

Just focus on IT and COSO and you should be good, honestly.

    Any tips for FAR?

How much was math vs theory?

What topics do you recommend to study? I feel so overwhelmed that there's almost no point to take it bc I'll fail.

    And now I'm obviously procrastinating.

i've heard that it's mostly coso and IT like you said…but i dont wanna take a chance just studying that stuff. I wanna go into the exam feeling like i have no weak areas. i just feel like they make variances and the cash flow chapter very in depth and complex.

Regarding FAR: It took me a while to pass it bc the first time i slacked off, the second time was during busy season and the third time i finally got that 75 lol. It was a 50/50 mix between theory and math. Know the formulas cold. I made forumla sheets and when i went through each chapter i made my own study guide. I went through the MCQs over and over again until i was blue in the face. The more you do the questions, the more you'll remember. The key to FAR is to keep writing down your mistakes OVER AND OVER again. Itll drill the info into your head and youll be good to go.

For me I had a lot of cost accounting. The COSO and IT stuff is more memorization. For economics/cost accounting, I found it better to understand the intuition behind things, rather than blindly memorize.

keep pushing through it……i know its tough material. i thought BEC was worse than FAR, but at the end of the day, becker got me through it.

The thing that I believe got me over the hump was taking a screenshot of questions I would struggle with and writing, in my own words WHY I got them wrong. Whether it was that I wasn't reading a question or had the equation wrong. You can bet I didn't make the same mistake twice that way.

I can't even tell you how many times I wrote out the CRIME, PHRASED and PHRASED-C mnemonic (until it was embedded in my brain FORRREVVVERR)

Also, someone said it before and I “pshhh-ed” them, but when you think about it, BEC comes down to all logic. When you see an equation think about what you are trying to accomplish and what you need and it will come to you way easier.

I would take FAR 20 times if the AICPA, NASBA, PROMETRICS gave me a waiver on BEC and passed them on a row. Hate BEC as much as a 20 extra pounds I just gained in my vk.

    B - 62, 70, 72, 79!!!
    A - 68, 81
    R - 70, 82
    F - 84

As long as you understand those long answers that BECKER is giving you. THat is the important thing – who cares if they are long.

Oftentimes BECKER teaches not through lecture but through the homework problems & solutions. This is especially true for the managerial accounting stuff in BEC. For alot of those, there is no way that you are getting them right on the first try, but it is important to read the explanations that BECKER gives you and understand. You'll start to see certain tricks in the questions that repeat and these tricks are also in the questions in the actual exam.

And the math isn't difficult per say. Its just addition, subtraction, and division. You just have to understand what is going on in the question and WHY you are adding, subtracting, or dividing.

    REG - Passed!!
    BEC - Passed
    FAR - Passed
    AUD - Passed
