CFF license, which I think a CPA is a prerequisite for (not 100% sure). And move to Florida or Cali. That's where all the big cases are.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

I said FL an CA a little bit in jest, just because there is so much drama in those states (I interviewed with the Acctg fi that testified in the Casey Anthony trial). But There's a market for it everywhere, and I fun side of Acctg to get into. Don't have much more advice other than I wish I got into it!

    Licensed Florida CPA:

    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

C'mon Gator – Give the Illinois criminals a chance. After all our state motto is “Where our governors make the license plates!”

JRo- I am interested in this also.I plan to take a forensic accounting class as an elective for my masters. I am looking forward to that class and learning more about forensics. I find it fascinating.

    A few questions:

What type of forensic accounting are you looking to do – live investigations/shadow audits or litigation support/expert witness services? Depending on your answer, you can target different companies. Live investigations are typically performed by Big 4 firms or government entities (due to manpower needed), while expert witness services are ‘after-the-fact' investigations that are run by many smaller shops.

Do you have a background in Finance? Yes, it's called forensic accounting, but I find that most of the new hires are Finance majors with a few Accounting mixed in. The reasoning is that the accounting can be taught in the field by a supervisor, while valuation calculations are pretty esoteric and require classroom learning.

Where do you want to work? The hottest markets for forensics (both live investigations and expert witness work) right now are Chicago, LA, and TX. NYC always has a decent demand as well.
