Gearing up for my Second REG Exam

I’ve just scheduled my second REG exam on the 31st of July after failing my first attempt with a 67. Of course, since I haven’t touched any of my REG materials for about three weeks, I’ve naturally forgotten everything I’ve studied in the first place. Anyone have advice as to how to re-approach another study marathon after failing REG?

    Thanks in advance. =P

Study as if this is your first time taking the exam. Read the chapter. Make scrap notes. Do the home work Qs. Make more notes on stuff your are not getting right and ensure you understand why it was not right.

Do lots of progress tests. Participate in your study group. Try to get comfortable with all the topics

Get familiar with the AL as that can really help you in the SIMs if you need it.

    Good luck!

I am having a hard time believing that you forgot EVERYTHING.

I am sure if you started doing MCQ's you would realize you remember plenty of material and even if you dont if you get the MCQ wrong it would explain how to to do it or why you got it wrong so that would help you refresh your memory. I personally would not go ahead and read over the whole book again.I would maybe read over the chapters that were your weak points on the exam and take 1000's of MCQ' questions.

I am starting to realize that i am learining most by taking MCQ questions because it makes me think and if i get it wrong i get pissed and try to figure out why i got it wrong and read the explanation of why that other answer is right.

You start over from scratch as if you've never seen the material before. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you need 8 more points, you actually need 75 more points. Every time I had to retake an exam I put in as many or more hours than I did when I failed.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

I am trying to retake for the 3rd time and I am taking it as if this is my first time doing it. I just feel like that if I put in 90 hours total and still ail, I would need to put in at least 130 hour just to pass this exam. I tried to review the weak area and I have trouble on the first 2 exam and learn from my mistakes. Good luck and hope that everyone will pass this time!!!

    REG : 62, 67, 81. Tick- Expire 01/02/2016

Let me preface this…I havent had a retake yet (knock on wood) and firmly believe that REG could be my first one (although I hope not). While I agree with Jeffs theory that you need to study from scratch, I personally plan to take a slightly different approach. It's true you don't need just two points, but you will have strengths and weaknesses at different levels then when you began initially. My plan (should I need it) is to assess where those strengths and weaknesses are and schedule my study time accordingly. So there is a major topic that is in my bottom 3? Maybe I spend a whole week on that topic alone. You may not remember all of the details but utilizing an honest assessment of strengths and weaknesses can help you alter your study plan some. Just my $.02.

    MBA,CMA,CPA, CFF?, ABV?
