God it's getting tough to stay motivated just pushed Reg back for the third time

I passed my first 2 parts within less than six months of each other but now I have a job not accounting related and I may never get CPA experience plus I work almost full time (35 hours a week) and Reg is really tough. It’s getting tempting to just walk away from this as it is I am scared my scores will expire after I pass from never getting experience. (can this happen?)

You're halfway there and only working 35 hours week, you can do this!

I work 60 hours a week + 2 hour a day commute; I wish I had 2 exams under my belt. So you are in much better shape than me.

    What state are you in?

I think CA once you pass the scores are yours forever, they don't expire. I think you just have to accumulate the hours within a 5 year period.

I think there is one state that gives you 3 years to get the experience after passing the exams, then they expire, but for the life of me I can't remember what state that is.

CPA (MA, Non Reporting) since Oct. 2015

    B - 33, 71, 79!
    A - 32, 61, 70, 83!
    R - 33, 58, 73, 69, 81!
    F - 47, 78! 🙂
After 3 long years, I'm finally DONE!
I could not have done it without NINJA MCQs.

Go get it! I was in the same boat after I passed my first exam – then pushed FAR off twice until my NTS was about to expire and I finally had to take it. Less than 14 days of cramming so I'm not exactly keeping my fingers crossed, but I know I want this so losing an exam fee (not cheap!) put things in perspective.

I'm not sure how happy you are with your job or where you see yourself in, let's say, five years, but who knows? You may end up with a job down the road that gives you that experience, and all of a sudden you find yourself in a position to get that license! Just my two cents. 🙂

The only thing I can say about getting motivated to take REG for a third time is to tell yourself this…

“I really don't want to take REG for the 9th time.” I passed it on my 8th attempt! REG is the devil!

I pushed REG back once already. I know how you feel, the amount of information is insane! I might even push back again…I wake up at 5 a.m. to study, go to the gym, then go to work. When I get home from work I make a pot of coffee and then I study some more. Right now it is 10 p.m. and I feel like a zombie still going through problems. This IS doable. I can't wait to pass all these damn tests and it's worth the sleepless nights and early mornings. YOU CAN DO IT TOO! You got this!

If you want it badly enough you can do it. Set a date and stick to it. Every state is different as far as how long your scores last. Louisiana is 4 years. You should be able to find this on your state board's website. I wish I only worked 35 hrs. I work around 65-70 and also have 2 kids (one that's only 20 months). You can talk yourself in or out of anything……

Hey @least you're employed. I have a BA and an MS and I am UNEMPLOYED ( I cant even get interviews), so while I understand your lack of motivation, don't give up!! I have passed 3 exams and awaiting my REG scores, and if I fail ill simply sacrifice (and fast lol) till I can save up the exam fees and retake it. Cheer up, you'll get a related job eventually…

@Cole – You have two perfect scores so far, impressive!

Note – As I am not someone likely to score very high on these exams, I consider a 75 a perfect score. Just enough baby, woot woot! : )
