I just started studying for Audit on Sunday. I have a hard time keeping up with Roger as he goes through this stuff. I finished FAR and it was relatively simple to take notes and stay engaged. But with this one, Roger just flies through everything so fast…I’m only on internal control and I feel like he covered sooo much material. Should I ditch the note taking and just watch the videos? I plan on burning through MCQ next week once I finish the video course. I wanted to start with the videos to get a general understanding of what’s going on, but it’s so hard to keep up! I’m really worried…my test is April 2nd. Any tips would be appreciated!

Roger user here – It depends if you think taking notes helps you. If you continue to take notes, you're going to have to slow down because otherwise your notes aren't going to make sense when you start reviewing them. I took tons of notes in college, but I haven't taken any notes at all studying for the exams. During every chapter, Roger goes through some homework questions and I use that as a check to make sure I've understood the audio. I've had to re-watch a couple of lectures before, but other than that I don't feel like I've missed anything major. And you've still got a month – that is plenty of time as long as you keep to your schedule.

Thanks. I thought notes helped me a lot with FAR but with AUD, I dont' want to keep stopping the tape every five minutes. I wanted to be done with the general videos by Saturday and pound MCQs for the remainder of my study time. It's crazy though because I feel like when I'm writing notes, I get distracted and can't keep focus. I'll try this morning to just watch. It all makes sense as I listen and watch him, but when I start taking notes, I get like ughhhhh

@jdn9201 question…did you read the book a lot? what was your overall strategy? Just trying to find ways to improve my process.

My brain is still blitzed from FAR yesterday, but I read the book quite a bit – especially during review. I didn't read every word, but I would skim through a chapter then look at the questions at the end of each chapter. I did MCQ's online too, but I have a tendency to go too fast and miss details. Reading the book forces me to slow down. Also, I realize everyone has a different pace, but I think you may need to slow down. Three weeks is too much time to review in my opinion. Counting the week I took off for Christmas, I studied for AUD in 4 weeks with my review being 5 days. I agree that drilling MCQ's is key, but I like quality over quantity. I've never exhausted the test bank on any section – I focus more on the answer explanations than the answers themselves. You have to make sure you understand WHY the answer was right or wrong. One other thing I liked about Roger for AUD is he has the audit cycle at the top of every chapter with the part in bold that fits with the chapter being discussed. That really helped me to keep the big picture in mind to see how one audit process ties to the rest.
