Has anyone done a full recover for AUD? 1st vs 2nd passed?

Hello guys! I am new to this forum, which is a great forum for all CPA purposes and I love it!

Back to my question, has anyone been in the situation of getting a 50+/- score in the first AUD attempt and passing in the second one? I have read many topics here, the signatures for most people (AUD 1st, 2nd, 3rd) and would like to know if there is hope out there.

My exp.: took AUD back in Jan, scored 50+/-, used Wiley for a period of 5-7 months +/-; before scheduling, lots of stop/go moments because of work related travel….2nd attempt in a few dates, have been using Becker and doing lots of MCQs, progress tests feedback is good…but I am still concern. I have read multiple advices from here and I am trying to address all SIMS too. However, I have been putting more focus in the MCQs because of the “most likely” “least likely” “not true” “appropriate” etc

    Advice is welcome!

Yes. I got a 55 on my first attempt after feeling rather confident with my level of understanding. Approximately 6 months later I retook the exam. To prepare I went through everything and made sure I understood every engagement. I also made sure that I could replicate the standard unmodified audit report and knew the components in it. When I retook it I passed with a 78, would have scored higher if I was better on sims.

One important thing is to rationalize through each question telling yourself why you are choosing the answer you are choosing and why you are not choosing the others. When you get a question wrong try to remember the underlying concept. AUD relies on understanding more than memorization.

    Good luck.

Thanks for your response! It give some light to this darkness. I have been doing that with all 6 chapters in Becker. It takes time but it improve the feedback (score) in the progress tests. I read all 4 explanations a-d for those I get it wrong or want to understand why is one option instead of another. However, I don't think I am really good with Sims and in my first attempt I got a variety of craziness in my exam sims; and as others have said you may not get the same the next time you sit…

47 first time, 71 second time, 84 third time 🙂

What I did differently the third time was to get the ninja notes and copy them word for word. Ten pages per day (plus 50-100 MCQ) seemed to really improve my memorization of the concepts.

Uh…I don't miss audit at all. Just make sure you nail the sims, planning, internal control, and reporting.

@mia thanks for responding, I am doing more than 100 Mcq per day. However, somehow I know I could have done better. The date is getting closer and I want to keep myself calm, and be able to pass it!

@mtaylo24 Advice taken with the Sims! I am determined to pass it in the second time, too many factors to control to be able to do so. If I don't I will at least be one step closer to have as many attempts as you have. Perseverance is the key.

    Hey all,

Any tips or retention tricks for AUD? I'm taking it in the middle of May, wrapping up ch 2 in Becker today. Planning on getting through 3 and 4 by Sunday night.

@stozzo88 Hi I am no expert as you can see but today I took my 2nd AUD, and if I could summarize what I did different this time: changed from Wiley to Becker review (I had both for the first attempt, but decided to use Wiey), did not pay attention to the “lectures/videos” instead more MCQs lots of them. Reviewed all chapters and Sims on them.

Good luck in May! Practice and get the assertions, cycles, ratios (effect on them…), *reports, other reports and all reports*.

Oh! Chapter 3-4, I suggest you to get on them more slowly than just a weekend for both.

audit is not about memorization. it is about understanding the process from beginning to end. it is methodical. and every step is laid out in the standards. so if you struggle with it i suggest 3 things. ninja book. ninja mcq. start at the beginning. read a section. do the mcq's and read everything that comes up with the answer to each question. if you need help read the standard for that question. mcq answer will reference it. you have to know esch step in the process to recognize which phase the question is asking about to know what the correct response is. be familiar with the standards to make the sims easier and faster during the exam. there is no need to guess on the sims because all the answers will be in the standards you have access to.
    good luck.
