Haven't done AUD sims and have a week left?

    Hey guys:

Due to time constraint, i only have a week left to review AUD. I have a fairly tight schedule to work with due to being in the MAcc program and a part-time job on the side. Has anyone passed AUD before just by skimming through the AUD sims? I’m thinking of just skimming through the SIMS and focus more of my time on the MCQs. I’m using Becker if that helps. Thanks for reading!

    FAR (2/5/'16): 88 (Becker & Ninja MCQs)
    AUD (4/18/'16): 93 (Becker + Ninja notes)
    REG (06/09/'16): 83 (Becker + Ninja notes)
BEC (07/08/'16): Please let me pass this one.

You definitely don't need to spend a whole lot of time on the SIMS, but I do recommend going through them all at least once just so you have an idea of what they will be like/what they are looking for.

I'm taking AUD on Monday and am banking on understanding the information will get me through the sims (without actually practicing any). I've heard bad things about AUD sims so I'm nervous this will backfire on me, but it's what I did for FAR and it worked well enough to get me over 75.

I took Audit in February and didn't study the simulations AT ALL. I feel like I was able to do pretty well without studying the simulations, but I also feel like if I were, at the very least, exposed to them, I would have done a lot better.

I also feel like if you got a solid understanding of all of the Audit concepts, the simulations should come very easy. They are pretty much just basic concept questions that should be second nature. I didn't have handle on the concepts as well as I should have nor did I look at simulations. I would go through them at least once.

    First of all, great name.

I would ask yourself how comfortable are you with the material right now? Working through the sims definitely helped me – I was scoring anywhere from 100% to below 20% on the practice sims in Becker…. 3/7 of my sims on the actual exam were similar to the more difficult ones in Becker, they weren't the exact same as the practice questions but they were the same type of questions.

Since you're in the MAcc program right now you may be more familiar with the content/questions.

My only suggestion is to read through the sims earlier on this week vs. waiting until the night before like a lot of people do. That way you'll be able to better gauge where you need to spend your time and not get hit with anxiety the night before the test.

Yeah I didnt really attempt to ‘do' any audit sims besides the ones on my practice test, which were an epic fail, but I just clicked through them and looked at the solution and be like “okay, I know that” or “okay, well if I see something like that, i'm SOL”.

Pound the MCQs and you'll learn everything you need to know, with the EXCEPTION being adjusting journal entries and ratios. Those seem to be the only 2 topics covered in Becker sims that aren't in the Becker MCQ. I personally HIGHLY recommend making sure you know how to do those sims.

Just clicking though though left me with little surprises on test day, except for 1 weird sim out of left field that I had no idea what it was even asking or what it expected me to know or what topic it was even trying to test me on.

I didnĂ¢â‚¬â„¢t put much effort into studying the sims for AUD- maybe 5% of my time. If you know the concepts, you should be fine with the SIMS. Also, doing the SIMS reinforce the concepts. The ones I got on my AUD exam were fairly easy though. I never saw any similarities between the ones I saw in Becker and the actual exam anyway. You might want to do a few, just so you get the hang of them and donĂ¢â‚¬â„¢t have any anxiety going into the exam.
