I’m just now starting to do the SIM’s for FAR as I review and took the Becker mock exam 1 yesterday.

On the mock exam there is a SIM involving nonmonetary exchanges and I attempted to search for information regarding it using the research tool. However, after I searched it I was able to locate the topic but not any information regarding it.

Example:

It shows FASB Codification > Broad Transactions > 845 Nonmonetary Transactions … but then no text or information regarding it? Am I doing something wrong or is certain information omitted from the research tools?

The codification you get in the review materials is not complete. The exam will have the complete codification. I think everyone who is registered to take an exam gets 30 day access to the codification online. I'm not sure where to go for it, but I have heard that we have access to it to help prepare for the exams.

I have access to it for classes, but haven't tried any access for the exams. TBH, I have hardly even practiced using it with my class so far.

It will be your best friend for SIMS on the exams. Some answers are literally word for word. Having experience searching in it will really help. I would suggest going through your quiz bank and using the free access you have with school to attempt to search for the answers or text that will help you derive the answer for each of the SIMS. The SIMS on the test will probably be more difficult, but if you can at least get familiar with the layout of the codification and searching through it, you will be surprised at how helpful that is on exam day.
