I’ve decided to retake the CPA after 3 years in hiatus!

    1st – BEC.

This site is pretty inspiring reading people comments and struggles. I know I can do it and I will be able to pass the CPA!

I did it. You can too!

    Study Material:
    GLEIM
    BEC - FEB/2012
    AUD - FEB/2012
    FAR - JULY/2012
    REG - JULY/2012

Hey J3! I'm a newbie too. Planning to take my first exam in May. I agree, this site is awesome! Good luck to you!

How is Gleim working for you?

    Hi Nicky,

GLEIM is pretty good so far for me. I used BECKER previously and comparing with GLEIM, I don't see why anybody would need BECKER.

I'm studying BEC and the 1 thing that I do sometimes is WIKIPEDIA. There's some concept that I don't know, I would wikipedia it and then read about it and then go read the text again.

what are you planning to study first?

I was comparing Becker and Roger, but I think I favor Roger lecture style better. He's a little more energetic and I need that to sit through 100 hours of lecture.

I'm planning to study FAR first. I'll have the longest time to study for it and can take another exam in each of the next

testing windows. That's the plan anyway! 🙂

Nicky: Reading other posters in this forum. They all have success with either materials, so I guess it's really us, as test takers to be disciplined and learn the materials.

    Best of luck with FAR!

ACCT: Hi and thanks. Yes I am taking it in 2012, hopefully my study method is effective and I can pass it all and get it done with.

This site will be my home for the next year 🙂

Thanks J3! You hit the nail on the head.

Also, I think ACCT asked about your test dates because you have “2011” in your signatures… 🙂

Hi, welcome! Best of luck to both of you in your upcoming CPA endeavor. As far as study materials go, I had great success with Becker, but I also didn't have to pay for it, which was obviously a huge factor in my decision. I've heard other people say they get more bang for their buck using other materials (e.g. Gleim) and supplementing with things like Wiley. Welcome to the community, I hope you don't hesitate to reach out to us for advice or help along the way.

@ Baseball – Thanks! My company is paying for mine too, otherwise, I probably wouldn't even be considering Becker or Roger! Lol

I have posted this many times before throughout this site, but to reiterate I believe Gleim has everything you need to pass the exam. I used it exclusively for both the CPA and CMA exams and it served me well. Especially for those of us who have to pay for our own materials, Gleim is a great value (I only paid $90 a section for my materials).

I wasn't in your shoes too long ago, and I can tell you that while it may feel like it never ends… one day it will and you'll be so glad you made the decision to get the coveted CPA designation! Good luck!

How are the Gleim books vs Wiley books? If you go to Amazon and look up Wiley, you can actually read sample pages from its books — I really like the style, but I'd like to see if Gleim is better. Unfortunately, Gleim hasn't have sample PDF pages on Amazon.

Haha thanks, Mini. It's funny, I was very active in the A71 community until I started my job, dropped off the face of the earth for awhile, and then came back..but now I'm addicted to the community. I think I check this site more than facebook or e-mail (including work e-mail :p). Plus, I welcome new additions in the hopes that they'll push some of the trash out.
