How do people have time to get haircuts working at Big4 or Top10 firms?

I know that I can’t even schedule haircuts with my barber until Saturdays, since I work 9-5; but knowing that working in public accounting will require me to work on Saturdays, I might end up looking like a major bum with long grown hair. How does everyone manage?

You can get a girlfriend who works in a salon who knows how to cut hair. Free haircuts and no appointments. Just don't piss her off when she is holding scissors or forget importants dates like anniversaries or her birthday.

Home-cuts (most guys' cuts aren't too hard, and a girl with long enough hair can cut her own simple style – I have many times) or the Great Clips type places that are open 7 days a week.

Dude, I used to worry about this too when I worked in public accounting. It all depends on the group/team that you're working for. When I was with PwC I was fortunate enough to have an awesome group that understood that even though you're expected to work a ton of hours, we still have lives outside of work. Especially with Big 4 firms pushing for “flexibility”, there should be no problem working around a haircut appointment.

I used to schedule appointments on Fridays after work (nobody ever stayed later than 5:30pm unless there was a hard deadline, especially when we knew we'd be working all day Saturday). Besides, if you're working for a public accounting firm and will be interacting with clients, I am sure the managers/partners want you looking presentable.

My wife is a hair stylist and I still don't have time for her to cut mine. When it starts to get super bushy, I make her use the clippers on it at 6:30 am for 5 minutes before I jump in the shower.

    Saturdays.

Or.. get a hair cut at 8am and tell your team you're going to be an hour late. (I like to shower after hair cuts).

It shouldn't be a big deal.

Yeah doctors appointments are a pain but even working 9-5 it's hard to get in because they are open from 9-5 as well lol. I guess try to get in around December. Then wait until busy season is over to go back unless it's an emergency. I plan on getting my hair cut right before busy season then maybe again once or twice on a Saturday. The latest appointment she has available. They will probably offer to pay me to leave once these eyebrows starting growing out loool. I have to get them done every two weeks! Who has time for that!!?? Haha

I cut my own hair. I use electric clippers, and it is incredibly easy. I would never attempt to cut my own hair with scissors, but electric clippers are so easy to use that a blind monkey could do it.

I am a travelling consultant so Fridays are always work from home. That makes it very easy to take phone screens, dr appts, and full interviews. I can't imagine ever coming to the office on a Friday ever again…
