Holy cow! This entire process is very expensive! How in the world do you all pay for it? The exam fees, the study materials, the additional study materials, the exam fees again….(!) I will do everything I can to get this designation, but wow, I wonder how average joes can pay for it all!

I honestly got lucky since my company paid for my review materials and will reimburse me for my exam when I pass each one. But I would have done it without them but would have chosen a cheaper material. I'd suggest looking a CPAExcel since it doesn't expire until you pass or Ninja is vey reasonable. My other advice would be not to rush your tests . Don't take too long in between but take enough time to make certain you'll pass the first time.

    BEC 8.14.14 - 87!
    FAR 1.8.15 - 89!
    REG 4.15.15 - 86!
    AUD 7.2.15 - 90!

    Application submitted 8.6.15
    Licensed CPA 8.19.15

0% interest for 18 months credit card. Take total to be spent, divide by 18 and congratulations, you have a new monthly bill.

**Tip, get credit card that gives you bonus for spending $X within X months. There are some where you could get $400 bucks.

Company pays for review materials and reimburses for expenses such as NTS. Parents fronted the initial cost.

What brooks303 said is what I'm doing. Hopefully I get a job that will reimburse me. I got school paid for by the company I worked for so I'm not complaining if exam fees come out of my pocket 🙂

Wiley books, Ninja MCQ. Don't buy lectures. Cheapest route I've seen.

    @Mama, BASIS BASIS BASIS.

And remember, simulations can only come from the first four chapters.

Any tips for FAR with me? I'm taking it around the same time you sit for REG as you can see.

Bisk book and NINJA MCQ. Less than $100 a section. For FAR, I went ahead and bought Jeff's BLITZ too, just as extra insurance. 2/2 so far with this method. I'll see Monday, I mean Tuesday (thanks NASBA), if it worked for REG. With my firm's small material reimbursement and bonus for passing, I'll break-even with the whole process.

It's tough, but I decided to see if I could do it without paying an arm and a leg for review materials. Review materials have cost me under $700 paid out over several months, and I've been able to space out the application test fees over time, too, by only applying for 1 or 2 tests at a time. It costs $50 every time I need a new NTS, but hopefully it costs less in the long run by not having to pay for retakes due to overextending myself on number of sections per NTS.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I lucked out. My company paid for everything – Wiley books, test bank and examination fees. The only thing was that I could not use an expensive review program, so I chose Wiley. Worked out for me.

Maxed out my credit cards coming out of college. My last firm didn't offer any assistance but wanted everyone to pass, kinda a conflicting message there.
