How fast have you studied for Audit?

Soooo my bf decided to plan an impromptu cruise for July 14-19. I take Audit on the July 27 and just started studying Monday. I basically have 14 days to study and that freaks me out!!! I studied for FAR for 5 weeks and still didn’t come out of my test on July 1 feeling all that great. Has anyone spent such little time on Audit and passed?? I feel pretty comfortable with a lot of the material because I had an awesome Audit professor, but that was last fall when I took the course. Any advice on how to study quickly and efficiently or what I can do while I’m on the cruise is greatly appreciated!

FAR: 7/1/14 (waiting for my score is torture!!)
    AUD: 7/27/14
    BEC: 8/30/14
    REG: TBD

If you're able to without your NTS expiring, reschedule. That's my advice, personally.

    FAR - 79 (11/27/13)
    AUD - 76 (2/1/14)
    REG - 77 (5/30/14)
    BEC - 88 (7/18/14)

    MN Ethics - 100% (3/9/14)

    AND DONE! 8/1/14

Sacrifice. Say no to the cruise. You don't have to go.

Audit is very doable in a short amount of time. I studied for only 3 weeks solid, 13 years after my last audit class. I got an 83. You just have to make sure you understand the reasoning for things. There's really no numbers, so you have to grasp the concepts. (However, I did find that the SIMS resembled more of a FAR exam than an AUD exam.)

Enjoy your cruise. Bring your books.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

I second the “reschedule” comment…. I orginally scheduled my first attempt during busy season (late february), because I was being dense and thought I'd actually study after working 60 hours in a week.

I didn't. I rescheduled it about a week ahead of time for $35 to the latest possible date I could (April 20 or something), but still didn't have time to study or pass (at that point we were working about 70 hour weeks & I was burned out on 4/16 so much that I slept about 15 hours, woke up for about 5 & then slept some more).

    Reschedule. Please!

Take stuff with you on the cruise (if your boyfriend & you decide to lay out on the deck & read, you can read the book!), but the extra time to get it mastered will be worth the potential $35 rescheduling fee — you don't want to pay another $250ish to retake it later.

My only problem with rescheduling is that I have BEC scheduled for August 30, I move August 9, and start my full time job August 13. So it's either sacrifice time on Audit or BEC.

I had an excellent audit professor and had just completed class in late November. I kept kind of fresh on the material by reviewing my textbook and notes, but I didn't really study full out until I received my Wiley books the day after Christmas. Then I basically crammed for 2 weeks and passed.

Did I doubt myself and consider rescheduling? Only about a million times. But it worked out okay.

Edited to add that I work full-time, so it was not 2 weeks of full time studying. But I brought my books with me everywhere, including to a New Year's Eve party.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

Do you have audit experience? If so, I think you have a good shot of passing. If not, you might want to reschedule. If you dont have experience auditing, this section can be weird & foreign and a LOT of memorizing.

    (8 o) …conclusion: Mayo's not human

I say reschedule…just to be safe. You probably COULD get by without the reschedule, but why risk it if you don't have to?

I second the comments advising you to bring your books and that Audit is more about understanding the concepts.

I'm human. Took it during my last semester in school when my course load was light. So basically studied 5 hours a day during the week and 8 hours a day during the weekend.

It was depressing really. Until the end :).

I spent three and a half weeks (May 4th – May 28th) and did pretty well. I don't have any audit experience and I didn't understand my college audit class very well at all.

If you did FAR in five weeks, I don't think you'll have a lot of trouble getting through AUD quickly, either.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

I studied about 3 weeks while working (almost) full-time and got my best score of the 4, because AUD is all about understanding more so than learning. If you grasp it, you could test after a day (OK maybe not literally, but I'm making a point here đŸ˜‰ ); if you don't grasp it, then it could take you a year. My suggestion would be to take a practice exam and see how you feel after that. If you grasp auditing, then 2 weeks (without working, I'm guessing from the sound of things?) would be great. If you don't grasp it, then either take it and try, or reschedule for next window (so that you don't mess up BEC).

Well, considering I'm like 30% through my materials and have my exam in exactly 4 weeks, I'd say I got it pretty tight. I need to cram for the next 3 weeks and hopefully leave a week for review to crank out MCQs as much as possible.

As for you, you better go crazy studying. You might want to consider rescheduling

No need to reschedule. Study every day until your cruise for 2 or 3 hours a day, take the book with you and give yourself an hour or two a day on the cruise. Every chance you get (husband's in the bathroom, still sleeping, you're in the bathroom, etc), study.

Don't listen to the nonbelievers đŸ™‚

    You got this!

Thanks everyone for the advice!! I think I'm going for it. Studying is my full-time job right now and I think I'll be able to study a little each day I'm at sea. Looks like I'll be bringing my notes/flashcards with me EVERYWHERE đŸ™‚
