After failing with a 72 in Q2, I retook in Q4 and got an 82! I only went through the MCQ once the second time studying but just kept writing the journal entries and concepts over and over. It just goes to show only you know how you learn best – and it pays off!

Looks like this was the quarter to take FAR. After weeks of pondering if I even passed, I ended scoring a 93. Pretty good considering I looked at Government/NFP accounting just a couple days before the exam!

Congratulations to all who passed.may I request to do me favor by answering one question?
When you were on last testlet how many minutes you had ? I was having 19 minutes hence couldn’t do 2 big SIMs n it seems that killed me.
I have heard some people had 60 minutes for last testlet.
I am devastated as spent almost 1 year for FAR n still at 60 . I also followed @Ana n @Lentil and their potential SIMs thread religiously. I was not lucky enough to finish all in 4 hours.
    I took 2 hours for MCQ .
My problem is I can’t leave any mcq under illusion that yes I know this mcq . Took 3 minutes or more. Do you people skip mcq ? One year n not passed one section , any mentoring is appreciated.

@satyakatiwal, sorry about your results. I had at least 50-60min on the last testlet, I don't remember exactly. But I had plenty of time because I got through the MCQ in 55min. I think you really need to be more decisive in MCQs. Don't over-think it. Read the last sentence first, determine what the question is asking, and then eliminate which choices are not correct. If you approach it methodically, make a decision about which choice is best, and then move on, I think you can do better. In my experience over-thinking and doubting my answer leads to getting it wrong. Even if you are very unsure, it's better to make an educated guess than to waste precious time analyzing it–you have a 25% chance anyway, so better to save all the time you can for the Sims where you have to formulate your own response. Practice like this in your review and try to get down to 60-90 seconds per MCQ.
Best of luck as you continue. You can and will succeed!

55 minutes for MCq wow ? My Becker averages is 1.40 for calc mcq n 30 seconds for non calc but in all attempts I took 2 hours ( 5-10 minutes plus minus ). U are fast test taker or result of practice? In all my attempts I almost left last testlet. I know pension, lease , bonds , consolidation, cash flow, revenue, assets, liabilities cold. Feel so helpless when I see I am not even touching those SIMs which I can really solve provided I get another at least 30 minutes .

@satyakatiwal I am typically a fast test taker. What you just said further shows that what you really need to work on is speeding up your MCQ. Since you know the material and are confident there, I think it's a matter of strategy. Based on your Becker times it seems like you start to doubt yourself once you get into the exam? It seems silly but I kinda pumped myself up before going in, telling myself “you know all this, it's just like your practice tests, it's no different than all the quizzes you took”. Try to get yourself into the same mindset as when you are practicing or taking a mock exam. Pump up your confidence! 🙂
