To anyone who has recently taken FAR- how much time did you leave for the SIMS and was it sufficient? How much time would you recommend leaving?

I always tried to give myself at least a minimum of 15 minutes per sim for any test I have taken. For FAR that is 1 hr 45 minutes and it gives you 45 minutes per testlet for the first three. I have always had enough time to finish them.

I gave myself about 2 hours for the SIMS. 40 minutes per MC testlet and 2 hours for the SIMS. It has always given me enough time to finish all the SIMS without feeling I was rushing through the MC.

I am a fast test taker and I needed well over an hour. They are time consuming. I would leave at least an hour and a half, but no more than 2 hours. Any more than that and you'll be rushing through the MCQs.

    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂

If you really study your MCQ it is reasonable to leave 2 hours for sims. That is plenty of time to lookup all of the Sims in the authoritative literature.

    FAR - 79 - 07/2012
    AUD - 65, 78 - 11/2012
    BEC - 76 - 11/2012
    REG - 78 - 01/2013
    ETH - 98 - 01/2013

    Material: Wiley books

My strategy has been to master the MCQ in study time and look up how to do the sims in the Authoritative Literature. I actually have only put in a handful of hours even going over sims and my test is friday. Any advice for a first-time FAR student dealing with the FAR sims?
