I say start with what you found yourself lost on during your fist try. Use that as a template and then branch out from there doing both MCQs and Sims

Will you be working? Also, I think you should focus on both of those…not just one.

I did it in 3 weeks, and I thought that was plenty of time. Obviously not everyone is the same as me, but here is what I did to knock it out in that time frame. I scheduled two days to complete the lecture and homework for each of the 6 chapters. That included handwriting notes on all the lectures, which I think is a very important part. After two weeks, I had gone through everything once. The last week I went through all the homework and notes, allocating one chapter to each day. There was a decent amount of time to mess around, so it wasn't like I was studying twelve hours a day. It would be very doable for you to replicate that. Good luck!

Also…yes I know it really really sucks to write all those notes by hand instead of highlighting. However, I think it helps you memorize things much better because you are much more involved whether you realize it or not. It is definitely worth a try, especially if you just highlighted for your first attempt. I think this ended up being like 80-90 hours total for me.

Good stuff chapman, but how about for those that aren't lecture type of people? Should I still write notes on my own?

I have found handwriting my notes to be extremely beneficial. I haven't had time to rewrite them on either section as Jeff recommends, but I'm sure that would also help. I don't watch all the lectures because Gearty is miserable to sit through.

If I have time to write them out when only taking 3 weeks to study, I think just about anyone should make themselves do it.

Something else I've started doing is coming up with my own mnemonics for things even if Becker already has one. Mine are usually incredibly vulgar or weird, but you'd be surprised how big of a difference it can make to sit down for 5 minutes and come up with your own. Maybe I'm just weird though…

I don't like the lectures. I watched them for REG, but none of the others. You should still take notes. When you read the book, you want to write down the important things. Then, I like to convert my notes to flash cards where possible. If it can't easily be converted to a flashcard, then it's probably more conceptual anyway.

Basically, the process should be: Read the book, reduce information down to notes, reduce information further to flashcards. As you go through flashcards, discard any that you realize aren't useful (ask yourself: “Does this flashcard actually answer a question that will be asked?”).

I will review my notes only once after I make flashcards. Usually the day before the exam.
