Hi, Would really like your input.

I scheduled FAR last minute for the 28th of this month. Did so because I did not want to fall behind. However, I have only 7 real days of studying left and have only gone through 5/10 sections of Becker. I am not doing too well on the Multiple Choice during the first rounds. Would you recommended I reschedule for early to mid October or grind it out these next few days.

If I should reschedule what study plan should I follow for the full month I would have to study. I would be working public if that matters.

Would truly appreciate your input. Please and thank you.

Edit: This is also my first Exam.

Unless your NTS is expiring, it sounds to me like you'd better reschedule. There is so much material left to cover. Try for first thing in October. You can get through the rest of the material between now and mid-September, and then have a solid 2 week review period.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

@Kimboroni What do you mean by the NTS expiring. And would I have to pay a reschedule fee?

The NTS only allows you to take the test through a certain date, which is 6 months after you got it in most states. The NTS will say what date you can take the exam through. If it expires, you have to pay the test fee again.

There is a reschedule fee. It should be $35 now, but it goes up when you get 5-6 days away from your test.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I think i would pony up the $35 and move it to October, I wouldn't want to take FAR under those circumstances.

    REG- (1) 76
    FAR- (2) 64, (5)74, (7)83 (Over achiever!)
    AUD- (3) 70, (4) 75
    BEC- (6) 75

I'm in a similar position. You have to pay a rescheduling fee no matter what. Worst case scenario, you fail and have to pay again. Give it hell, and if you aren't confident after you take it, keep studying.

yes, i think i would agree with everyone else. however it is entirely up to you.

it really depends on how you learn…i mean i knew i couldnt study FAR in 6 weeks like everyone reccommends. ive been studying all summer. i use becker as well and this is my first attempt first try. F8 & F9 are crucial. as well as 10 i think. it has a lot of little stuff in that chapter. 6 is pensions and taxes while 7 is stockholders equity which can be pretty brutal

I would reschedule. Without being too specific, if you don't get through at least F9, you won't be hitting an EXTREMELY crucial topic that is guaranteed to be a significant portion of your test unlike some of the stuff you've studied. If you absolutely must take it now, consider reading the last few chapters because they are the least familiar. It took me a LONG time to understand the stuff in the last section and I still didn't fully GRaSPP it (haha) come test day. It would be suicide to not even get through it before your exam.

    FAR - 84
    AUD - 76 (phew)
    BEC - 88
    REG - 77

    DONE!

It is more expensive to pay for a retake than to pay the rescheduling fee (unless the NTS is expiring and you'd have to pay the test fee again anyway). If you were farther into the material or had a little more time, I'd say go for it, but it's $35 to reschedule vs. ~$250 for an almost certain retake.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

    mikeymike-

I was in your predicament, decided to charge it , and failed FAR by a few points for the second time (found out today). The painful part is I did better the first time (missed by 2 pts) and didn't study.

I speak from experience to say POSTPONE FAR or REG. There is too much material to cram in a week for these two exams.

If it were AUD or BEC, I'd say charge it. I did BEC and AUD soup to nuts in three and two weeks, respectively. FAR and REG aren't any more difficult, they just cover a proverbial poo-ton of material.

Hey mikeymike: I'm pretty much in the same position as you are right now (studying for FAR, still have a ways to go to finish all of the Becker materials). I had my test scheduled for aug 29th, and after finding out I failed BEC today, I decided to postpone FAR. I passed AUD, and failed the other 3 sections, likely because I don't give myself enough time to learn everything and then try to cram everything last minute. I'd rather put off the test a little longer than risk taking FAR for a 3rd time (yuck).

I'm starting as a staff at a Big4 in about a month, and I'm most nervous about having to balance studying for these exams while working. Does anyone have any life experiences/helpful study tips/words of encouragement they could share?

To be honest, this process has been pretty discouraging so far. I just finished a graduate program, and most of my classmates have passed at least 2-3 sections already, so it's tough to keep getting bad news.
