Hi guys,

Can someone from IL please explain how the IL Ethic exam works? I know we are supposed to buy our own books. But, which book do I buy? Can someone provide the link? Can someone explain how do I even take the Ethics exam and how long is it? How many questions? Can I do the Ethics exam in 1 day?

U get the ethics exam from the aicpa. It is a specific course. If u r a member of the il cpa society u receive a discount on the course. I took it in sep and the book was ur choice of either online or u could have printed mtls sent to u and then take the test at home and key ur answers in online and it grades it immediately. It is super easy and u can complete it easily within 2 or three hrs. U can get the online book for the course and ctrl f any searches u may need. I think its 40 questions which are presented in the order that the material is presented in the book

@ Leglock – is there a time limit in those 40 minutes? Or is there unlimited time? Also, am I better off getting the text book or the online PDF?

Select the purchase option for licensure. You can either select download or online version, these are the same price. I did the online version, but you have to cycle through the slides before you can take the exam. The exam is 45 questions and will be automatically graded. Then I sent a copy of my completion to the ILBOA (email: help@ilboa.org) since they already had my passing scores and they have been having trouble receiving the completions from the AIPCA.

@ brianna – if I do the “online version”, is that better than the “book version”? What's the difference?

If I do the “book version” – how long until the book actually arrives to IL ?

But, if I do the “online version” – I can download it immediately and take the exam the same today?

I did the online version and it was an immediate download. I took my time and actually flipped through the slides, but there is a study guide you can download with all the information.

If you do the download version you can take the test today. If you do the book exam Im not sure how quickly it is shipped and received.

@ brianna – is it better to do the online version then? I can do a CTRL + F if it's online (I'm guessing), right? Do I need to watch any lecture videos or can I just take the exam while searching for the answer in the PDF?

I was able to download it and use the control+F function; however, if you try to take it before all of the slides have been marked off it will tell you that you are not ready for that yet. So take from that what you will. If you choose to just click through the slides and take the exam, that is completely up to you 🙂
