Hey everyone, I hope your 4th is going well. However, I hope your studying is going better.

Just a question for those who have taken and passed the AUD exam. How much value would you put on practicing the sims in prep for the exam?

The reason I am asking is because for REG I didn’t really practice the Sims at all but did fairly well. I just cranked out MCQs non-stop. I was wondering if I should do the same for AUD, or perhaps, focus more on practicing sims due to the nature of the subject matter.

I would practice some of the SIMS for AUD, simply because they pull in FAR SIMS and it's good to see a little bit of what may be on the exam. Even if you don't feel like doing them full out you should at least see what they are about.

I feel like SIMs are hard and take some more time than MCQ, but they help you learn the material in a different way. I know that when Becker threw me a SIM where I had to say what procedures were required and what wasn't between a review, compilation, and audit in a tabular format… Well, that really showed me what I had to work on, since I feel you second-guess yourself a lot more when there are a ton of elements you're working with, rather than just trying to answer one, maybe two questions that a MCQ might have.

Also, that table became a nice study material for me too! So, I definitely vote yes to SIM studying. 🙂

A lot of people do pass without practicing SIMs, but if you have the time to better prepare yourself for that 40% of the score, that can only be time well spent. I wouldn't want to not practice SIMs and then not pass because of my SIMs. That would be the worst.
