For any fortune 500 corporations, how do i know if they do their taxes in-house or source it to big 4?

I've worked for 2 public companies (one F1000 – barely) and both of them had in-house tax departments.

I would think the F500 would as well.

3 public companies for me and all with in house tax departments. I will say though that one was a subsidiary and the sub did the sales and property tax, but the parent company did the income taxes.

worked at a fortune 50 (fifty, not 500!!), it was in-house. I know for a fact that 2 of the 3 other big players in this industry also had in-house departments. First job was in the tax department of a $2b in revenue public software company. Currently in tax department of a $2b in revenue public manufacturing company that spun off from a larger company that was also in house. So far, all of the “tax departments” have done all, fed, state, indirect, international where applicable. I am in the Midwest and I know companies in Chicago/Indianapolis/Cincy/Columbus in a large range of industries, including retail, real estate, food have in house departments doing their own sales tax returns. The first 10 companies I am thinking of off the top of my head are all public and well known.
