Finally got the motivation to begin studying & deep in thought, and then bam! my mom decides to knock loudly on my door & barge in for the most trivial reason when she knows I am studying. i completely flipped out, she’s either saying i study too much & need to go out or that I study too little whenever she see’s me relaxing

called off the night of studying as a result. i know she just wants the best from me, but once I get interrupted I lose it sometimes. I bet some of you have varying degrees of this problem /rant

Have you considered going to a library or Starbucks or something to study that way you're not at home to be interrupted? My husband works weekends so I have our 7 and 2 year old that I have to contend with, but any chance I get where he's home and I can study, I end up leaving the house so they don't even have a chance to interrupt me, because they will. Just a thought, because you could turn off your phone while you're gone and then they really can't bother you!

Good point Frostycpa: I have to get out because when I'm supposed to be studying, I start to wash dishes, sweep floors and before you know it time has gotten away. So I have to go to my office Higher Ground (our starbucks) or plain old Mcdonalds. Any where but home…..just too many distractions. Don't get me started on my ADULT (4) all home from college. I feel like it is a conspiracy or a daycare.

Ummm… my husband and I argued A LOT over this. When I'm trying reeaaaaallllly hard to finally nail down any one of the 873 million impossible topics in any given section and he'll interrupt me with something like “do you know where the– oh, there it is” or something equally pointless that kills my concentration. Or he'd have the idea that just because he was outside for 10 minutes and has now come back in that he won't be interrupting, so he'd always come in talking, which meant that even when he stopped doing that, the mere act of him entering a room would break my concentration because I was expecting him to interrupt…. Yes, it's REALLY frustrating. I feel you.

Funny thing is, he reenrolled in school for a certification during the last week or so of my studies and so the tables turned!

@frosty, A different study location does sound like a great idea, nobody will be interrupting me in the library, just a hassle of going there & back, but worth it

oh gawd, try having a ten year old! I CANT leave her home alone and go off to starbucks! She tries REALLY hard and I have nothing but admiration for her but at the end of the day, studying takes me at least twice as long!

I had this problem too…Wife plus 3yr old. I studied with headphones on to block out most of the noise (nothing was coming out of the headphones).

I have two small children. I have to leave the house to study. So I go to Starbucks super early or late at night to study. And I invested in a pair of noise cancelling headphones. Those two things helped me pass!

Simply rain is also nice because you can fool your brain into thinking it's really gloomy outside and you're not really missing out by studying. 🙂
