Hello forum :), I have been lurking around this forum for awhile, as well as reviewing Jeff’s podcasts on Youtube, so I decided to join up to update everyone on my progress. I’m currently going to be sitting for all four parts of the CPA Exam this year, with FAR and BEC in April, AUD in July and REG in August. I have been utilizing CPA Excel since October and a strategy that I’ve been using is a little bit “different” than most other strategies I have reviewed, if my strategy fails then I will revert to another.

The strategy I’m using is to take all of the study text content and rewrite it (condense it) into my own words while staying true to the actual content, formats, laws, etc. After this is completed, I then zone in on a section (starting with FAR) to then memorize and comprehend all of the condensed concepts with assistance from the lecture videos and other additional research information if needed. From there, once I have all of the relevant content memorized and comprehended, I would take practice quizzes and then take 2-3 actual replica CPA Exams (in Prometric styling). As long as I’m passing the quizzes and the replica exams efficiently (I am targeting 85%) then I believe I’m “exam ready” to go and sit for that section of the Uniform CPA Exam.

So I wanted to let you guys know about my strategy :). I will keep you updated on my progress to determine if the strategy worked or not. Right now I’m planning on taking FAR and BEC both in April, the rewrite for both of those is already complete and I’m in the memorization/comprehension phase right now.

My NTS arrived yesterday by email at 6:15 p.m. EST for BEC and FAR. I can take BEC and FAR from 7/25 – 1/25. Currently I'm focusing on BEC for August 12th and FAR for November 11th, I will keep you guys updated on this going forward. As soon as I finish the exam with BEC I will post my experiences.

Based on the 3rd and 4th quarter time schedule (https://blog.aicpa.org/2014/06/cpa-exam-q3q4-2014-score-release-timetables.html#sthash.oHPyup1z.dpbs) I should receive my score for BEC on August 22nd and my score for FAR on November 24th. I will post those scores and my thoughts on the exam immediately after taking it.

Okay wanted to update this thread. So the BEC and FAR Exams are officially set, based on availability and my status in the preparation cycle, the exams will be completed as follows:

– BEC Exam: Sunday, August 24th at 11:00 a.m. here at Prometric in Troy

– FAR Exam: Saturday, November 29th at 1:00 p.m. here at Prometric in Troy

I love the weekend scheduling, wish I could have gotten FAR on a Sunday but those were not available.
