I have never really wanted to go into public but now I’m thinking it can only enhance my future prospects of getting a controller/CFO type job. (you know before I retire?)

So on the phone this guy was lavishing me with praise. Said “you really seem to be on the fast track!”

If only he could realize the fast track means graduating high school a quarter of a century ago…..LOL!

    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Kool. I got that from the title but the OP had no information in regards to the interview. Is it a second interview? Is it for an experience or staff hire? Big firm or regional?

Small firm (8 people), said their focus is on tax but they do a few audits. No travel (yay) and he only requires 6 Saturdays during Tax season (I work that many now LOL and I'm not in public). This is a first interview in person but I already did the phone interview (not that it counts).

Got a call today for another small firm, sounds very intriguing. Said they do mostly consulting to state and municipal governments. I think I'd love going to a different town every few weeks, helping them implement new accounting software, helping them prepare their fund financial statements, and training their new staff. Said the training would be about a year (yikes!) Oddly enough he was concerned that I didn't put passing all 4 parts on my resume only in the cover letter. I explained (maybe a mistake) that I had researched that point and found that the conventional wisdom was to wait until the license was in hand.

So a question, is a very deep hunter green pantsuit (almost looks dark gray actually) a mistake? Would everybody stick to black or grey? I love the pants and jacket but am not attached to them 🙂

Mla no once u pass all four parts put on resume. If you pass 3/4 don't do it..but all 4 in the 18 months is the bomb. Good Luck!

@Herbieherb Why not put you passed a portion of your CPA exam on your resume? After putting I passed my FAR on my resume I have gotten like 4 interviews already. It really helps.

@jack because one pass doesn't mean anything till all exams are done in 18 months. It's not really an accomplishment. Think about it great say cpa candidate pass bec. Then doesn't take any more parts or just keeps failing…that credit disappears.

I guess if the credit is current its ok…but like if you put “I passed FAR in 2004″that would be dumb LOL…

@jack, I will agree 100% with you. I passed one exam and had it on my resume and got called for more interviews than I had without it. Whats important to a recruiter is that you're working towards full completion.

@Herb but what if it's a recent pass and you plan to pass the rest of the exams within 3-4 months. I think you should put it on your resume so they know. I mean who would you hire someone who is attempting to pass their CPA or someone who plans to some day.
