Licensed in CT but work in NY?

I did my undergrad in CT and when I applied to take the exam I applied in CT because I don’t think I meet NYS education requirements. I only have three credits of finance and I’m pretty sure NY requires six. Since CT didn’t I applied to the CT board. I live in NY and work in NY – does it matter if I’m certified in another state? Is there a reason why I should get licensed in NY after I complete the test (under the degree of reciprocity I belive its called?)

    Thanks!

https://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/cpa/cpalic.htm. Finance is not a requirement for CPA licensing in NYS. I'f I'm not mistaken, if you eventually own your own firm or become partner in an established Firm in NYS, you must be licensed to practice in NYS. I'm not fully aware of the procedure for “transferring licensure” or w/e its called. But the website provided should help. If not contact NYS office of the professions for public accountants and they are pretty good at helping answer questions you may have. Or if not them contact NASBA.

THE 300 CLUB WILL DO JUST FINE!

So if I don't plan on owning my firm or becoming a partner it doesn't matter which state my license in? I don't know why I thought NYS required more finance classes – I think in my undergrad I had a professor tell me that, which I why I never bothered to apply in NY.

    Thanks again!
