I need 3 more accounting credits to sit for the exam and I have 2 choices.

    1) go the cheap route and take a class at the local community college to just get the credit.

    2) go back to my college and take a graduate level course that will benefit me in a few years when I go back for my MBA

I’m torn between the 2. My friends tell me to take the graduate level course but my husband said to take the CC course. I have no idea which one I should do and would love your opinions.

    Thanks!

Not sure if the community college course would qualify. I had technical college credits that had to be accepted by a 4-year college in order to be accepted.

I was in the same boat as you and needed 3 more credits for the 150. I enrolled in a graduate level course that was actually a CPA prep course for FAR. That gave me my 3 credits plus helped me study for the exam, provided me with the materials, etc. I continued with a second course for AUD and BEC because the cost of the course was actually cheaper for me (an alumnus) with all the materials provided than just the materials would have cost purchasing them from Becker. Of course, I guess there are cheaper materials out there too. Either way, if you need the credit anyway, why not kill two birds with one stone and get started on your CPA studying?

The course I am taking is through Lakeland College in Wisconsin, but it is basically all online, in case you might be interested.

    FAR - 92 (4/27/12)
    AUD - 96 (7/17/12)
    BEC - 92 (8/30/12)
    REG - 91 (11/12/12)

It is thankfully allowed. I already submitted the course info to my contact at VBOA. I wasn't aware of cpa courses that also count as credits and would love more information!

If you know you will go for the MBA, take the graduate course for accounting now, one that is required by the MBA program you plan to take.

If you simply want to compensate for your accounting credits then check this one out https://una.cpaexcel.com/papp/enroll.html

    .

It's an online course from an accredited university and the work load is minimal compared to other options. I used it myself and even though I didn't really like the teaching style (my opinion only, don't take it against the course), at least I got to set for the exams without wasting too much effort.

    REG: 80 (02/02/2012)
    FAR: 91 (02/06/2012)
    AUD: 89 (02/09/2012)
    BEC: 79 (02/12/2012)

    Ethics: 90 (02/11/2012)
