I graduated in 2009 in a state requiring only 120 credit hours.

    AUD: 83 (expired), 88

    BEC: 74, 76 (expired), 83

    FAR: 48, 63, 74, (Score Pending)

    REG: 39, 64, 73 (Just received yesterday)

Now, in my state the 150 hours rule is going into effect. Now, not only do I still need to pass Reg (and potentially FAR, also), I have to obtain 30 additional credits to be CPA eligible. I can’t afford to get a Masters as I am already in student loan hell. Community college seems much more plausible. I don’t know that this test is worth it anymore. I feel like giving up.

I don’t know what sort of advice I am looking for. I guess I just need to vent. This sucks.

Is it necessary for you become a CPA immediately? If no, finish the exams and then go back to school. You'll make too much money in the future to pay off these loans, don't overstress it. There's always way, you just have to put your mind to it. You already passed two, what makes you can't pass the other two. Just get off the ground and try it again and again till you pass. It's short term sacrifice for a long term gain.

I have additional credits to meet after I pass the exam. Someone on here suggested UCLA Extension, which are individual classes offered for people needing credits. I would suggest that route because it is online and each class is only $555, which is cheap for an online program. I wouldn't give up if I were you. Focus on the exams and then knock out the classes quickly. Studying for the exams gives you the basis you need to easily pass regular classes. Good luck!

    Thanks for the advice, guys.

I think the UCLA extension is a bit pricey. I've looked review the courses and it looks like I only need 18 units which I think is 6 classes (I went to a school on the Quarter system). I rather just knock them out at Santa Monica College or someplace similar because its only $42 a unit. I just need units. I am ok in terms of Accounting, and Business credits.

I think Becker is too steep of an investment for me. Especially considering that I failed the last two exams by a combined 3 points. It just sucks to know that I have to jump through all these additional hoops because I couldn't come up with 3 points. 🙁

Look, if you had one chance, or one opportunity to seize everything you wanted, one moment… Would you capture it, or just let it slip?

    B - 89
    A - 80
    R - 78
    F - 86

CIA, CFSA, MBA, MAcc (too many f'ing degrees and certs, I know, trust me)

the problem is do your current state allow you to transfer your partial scores from the original state you got credit for.

in TX they won't recognize all my passing scores from another state due to their “30 upper class + ethics class” rule. So i'll have to get my license from original state i sat for and then transfer license to TX.

you still have to meet the final state requirement in the end, but there are ways to buy time to fulfill the 150 credits.

it's really odd this exam is “uniform” but not all state sees it that way.

Of course it is worth it. Take a week off and come back to this and finish it.
