With only FAR left to pass. I would like to know what is the hardest information to learn in FAR or what kept you from passing FAR. Also, any great study tactics is greatly appreciated. I need to put this test behind me. Best of luck to all in 2012!!!

I'm in the same boat. Wishing you the best of luck. BEC will expire for me on 4/30/2012. So I have two more opportunities to pass FAR if I didn't pass the exam I took last week.

    FAR - 11/30 TBD
    REG - 86
    BEC - 80
    AUG - 83

In my opinion, the hardest part of FAR wasn't any one topic really. The hardest part of FAR is the amount of information you have to cram into your head. There were times I thought it was not possible. My advice for studying FAR is to basically make this exam you life for the next couple of months. Also, continually review the material as you go along or you will have a lot more trouble getting the information to stay in your head. Hope this helps some.

    @mariemore I bet you passed!

@85CPA Thanks for the tip I am beginnig to learn there really aren't any short cuts to this exam. I have heard that certain topics are a little more challenging.

Good luck to all, and to God be the glory I am almost done.

    @ Guido

You are welcome. One more thing, I would not recommend taking the exam without knowing journal entries and having a good understanding of how they affect the financial statements.

I see you have passed BEC. This exam is killing me to study for. Do you have any advice you could share? Tips on learning the IT and remembering all the formulas.

    Thanks

I did an intense study of IT the day or two before the exam like Jeff recommends. I rememebr doing all the MC for IT right before test. This was my weakest area in BEC if you can know most of the defiintions and know how different IT people can only do certain things you will be ok. For the formulas I took a sheet of paper wrote the left side of all the formulas then made several copies. I would then see if I could write in the right side of that formula on the paper. For the formulas I had problems with I would write it over and over until it was stuck in my brain usually only took two or three sheets of writing.

When studying for FAR, do not neglect government/not-for-profit accounting. I had very little exposure to governmental/not-for-profit prior to FAR, and I made the mistake of not studying for this stuff until the end. Start studying it early on so you can review it a few times prior to exam day.

Can't believe people on here don't think certain topics in FAR are hard. Personally, F5 was a bitch. I think the bonds, like kind exchanges and leases were the hardest part for me.

The biggest thing with FAR for me that helped me bring it all together was the Becker practice exams. I did exam after exam and if I didn't know the answer, I looked it up in the book and wrote it in my notes. This sort of brought all of the information together for me. Rather than review topic by topic, I was able to mix up every area in the practice test.

This is going to be my new REG strategy in January. Fingers crossed!

    AUD 82
    REG 70, 67, 82
    BEC 74, 77

I am in the same boat as you, with FAR being my last exam, and REG expiring 4/30/2012. So I have two tries to pass…so much pressure, my heart is racing now just thinking about it! Good luck everybody!!!!!!!!

Ditto to what 85CPA posted. I didn't think any of the topics were overly difficult, but some definitely took much more time to master than others. These are the areas that I had to spend the most time with…

    Bonds

    Pensions

    Consolidations

    Diluted EPS

    Like-kind exchanges

Governmental and NFP were not difficult areas – they were just new to me and thus took some extra time to master as well.
