OT: Worst Prometric experiences

When I took REG, Prometric had just hired a new woman and had her training on my test day.

First, she said my friends signature didn’t match the one on his drivers license. Classic trainee move. Then, when sitting me down at my computer, she wouldn’t stop talking to me as she pulled out my seat out, forcing me to put my pencils and paper down to scoot the chair back to the desk. Immediately after setting my stuff down, she thought she’d do me a huge favor and move my pencils and paper to the farthest point away from me on the desk.

After that, she continued to talk to me so long I almost had to remind her about the countdown on my test launch and to please get the (exploitative deleted) back to the front desk and leave me alone for ever.

No big deal, I thought, she’s new. Well… no big deal until she did this to EVERY person that walked into the testing center that morning.

On top of that, she had 12 giant gold bracelets on her wrist that jingled with every step she made. It sounded like a stampede of kittens and other animals you put bells on to prevent squished kitty syndrome.

However, I easily fixed my problem by putting on those headphones that let you know what the inside of your mouth sounds like.

I know I’ve read worse stories about prometric here. Let me here other peoples bad experiences. Because venting is healthy, right?

I am sorry for laughing but that story is too funny! I think after all that you should be able to go home with a passing score regardless how you actually did on the exam.

Well I sat down and realized my contacts were in backwards and in the wrong eyes. Not a good start. BUUUUT the girl at who checked me in also kept checking me out, and she was cuuuutte! hahaha. Add that to the fact I passed with a 75 and I guess it wasnt really a bad experience..

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Fire alarm went off right before I started the written portion of BEC. And yes I made a 74 that time…but truly felt it wasn't due to the written portion but the MCQs.

There was no actual fire just doing a fire alarm test…20 mins later we were let back in…time ticking away on our exams…

    REG-80, 77, 77

i hate when people are studying while waiting to take the test. the rule sheet they make you read clearly states no materials allowed in the testing center but prometric doesn't care about this for some reason.

this is kind of off topic but while i was waiting to take my test someone came out of the testing center with a bloody nose and i escorted him to the bathroom (because the bathroom is a shared bathroom in an office complex and you need a key to open the door). what would you do if you're about halfway through the test and then you got a bloody nose?

I took BEC the first time in July. I am in Texas and the air conditioner was broken so they warned us that if we wanted to wait to see if it came on we could. With my anxiety I decided to just go for it. It was freaking hot. The moment I was able to forget about how hot is was, a jerk walked in and said very loudly how hot it was. Uh…no duh! Then about halfway through we had a fire alarm go off. I just kept taking the test. It was a just a drill. I made a 74.

I remember one moment , when i was about to walk in my exam, i wanted to use the restroom.

The line was long, since there was just one bathroom for Gents and one for Ladies…. The Mens line was long, and that jackass from the indside would not open the door. Some people claimed they saw the guy going in, some claimed that there is a women in men's bathroon, so the prometric administrator had to get up and knock/ bang on the door.

No response from the guy from the inside, the line got longer & longer and nobody wanted to go and test…. I walked across to a starbucks and used their's.

After my test i asked the lady who it was? and she said he was listening to his IPOD and meditating in the bathroom before he took the exam…..

    A fire drill?!

    Did you try the headphones?

I can keep calm when someone is being annoying, but if a fire alarm goes off during my test it better be because someone started a fire. Shouldn't they be responsible in notifying you that a fire drill was scheduled on your test date and you should probably move it?

The minute I asked that I had several flash backs, one listed above, where peoples responsibility could have prevented a disaster…

I want to repost a really good story I saw last quarter… Let me see if i can find it

This is an excerpt from @Wendy12x12‘s “A UFO crashing into the testing center…” post:

That's about the only thing that didn't happen during AUD today.

First, there was the guy next to me talking to me b/c he was aggravated at my coughing (sorry–took as many meds as I dared, was sick over a month ago but the cough lingers). I was terrified I'd get in trouble, so I didn't look at him, speak to him or anything. Had difficulty concentrating while trying to further suppress my cough.

Then the Prometric employee came in to take me out on an “unscheduled” break b/c my SWITCHED OFF phone was ringing in the locker (she said phones now switch themselves on if an alarm is set–who knew?). They asked me to take the battery out of my phone. Definitely leaving it in the car for REG.

Later, the power went off during a storm, and the entire center had to go on “unscheduled” break while they got the computers running again. Completely lost my focus standing around in the lobby for 15 minutes.

After returning from the power failure, I got not ONE, but two Microsoft .Net Framework error messages. I was unable to use the “back” button while searching the authoritative literature, which was very annoying!

Finally, the computer did not accept my final “exit”. I was just about to leave (the confirmation wouldn't print). I had to put all of my stuff back in my locker, get re-checked in and try to “complete” the exam (though I already had). Except the computer screen was completely blank. So they had to sign me back out, fiddle around, sign me back in, sit me down at a different station just to login and log back out.

    Seriously.

When I took BEC the woman told me to take my jacket off because “we were not allowed to wear a jacket”. I let her know it was cold and that I was permitted to wear my jacket during my previous exams. Well, she still said no.

Then she had me pull out my rosary necklace and looked at it so closely to ensure I did not write anything on a one inch cross. Really?

After the exam, while taking my fingerprint (which was a bit sweaty) she had me place my hand under her desk where she had a plugged in heater. She would not allow me to wear a jacket in a cold room during my test and yet she had a heater to keep her warm.
