Overwhelmed with FAR… Forgetting beginning material

Just finished F8 of Becker Self Study… Finishing F9 and F10 by the end of this week (6/27).

Then Im giving myself 2.5 weeks for review at about 8 hours a day. Im feeling a little overwhelmed because I am forgetting some of the material from the beginning even though I did not move on to the next topic without feeling like I fully understood the concepts of the chapter.

Any advice on how to manage ALL the material for a final review?

Go over the materials , your notes and the mc you did wrong multiple times , you'll be fine. I think you left yourself enough time for reviewing.

In my opinion, right now would be a good time to go back and do a small review of each chapter before continuing. Reviewing at the very end only almost guarantees you will forget many of the early chapters.

I would take 2-3 days to just review everything to this point, over and over.

I've started treating FAR as two separate tests, only way I could keep myself from going crazy. Just review the material, practice a few questions from the old sections, keep it fresh

Start from the beginning of your material and quiz yourself one topic at a time. If you know it move along. If you don't then take time to review, wait a day, then quiz yourself again.

At this point you just need refresh your self with the material.

This is why there are suggestions to have a few weeks of review, so that you can go over what you forgot and hammer it home. You'll be fine, just as everyone else that has passed was fine. 🙂

Edit: Eight hours a day is over-kill. You'll be surprised how much comes back once you review the notes/highlights in your book.

2.5 weeks of review is fine. It will start to come back to you once you begin doing comprehensive progress tests. I felt like I was forgetting stuff even with BEC, and it only has 6 chapters. But once I completed my review, I was back in business.

I have been studying for for 40+ hours a week (plenty of breaks during study sessions) as my full-time job as my start date isn't until September. I did 2 chapters a week and went through all the MCQ once already as I finished covering a topic. My plan is to go back re-do al the MCQ, work on my weak areas, take progress tests until my eyes bleed, and work on memorizing J/E, formulas, steps, and really understanding concepts for the SIMS. Hopefully its enough and my nerves don't overcome me!

Thanks for all the advice gang!

    Hey BallisLife –

I noticed you're taking your exam July 15th and you start work in September. I am also taking FAR the 15th and start work in September! I have been studying since June 1st for about 40 hours/week. I had a couple of questions just to see what other people in my situation are doing –

-What's your study plan for the next four days? (I just took the first practice test today and did not do as well as I wanted…Scored high 50's on MCQ and low 80s on Sims, so I'm kind of freaking out)

-This may be premature, but are you going to try and knock out 2 more exams before this window closes up? Or just focus on one exam after FAR?

    Thanks!

Get a hard-drive installed in your head. 😉

    Just kidding…

Like everyone said, review. I'm having the same issue as you. I just keep trying to review and I try to use logic instead of memory as much as I can. That way if I don't have something down by rote memory, then I can figure it out.

    FAR - 80

    @NPD108

I took my first practice exam yesterday as well. Scored a 67% on it with high 60s and one 70 on MCQ and high 80s -90s on the sims.

My plan is to continue to work the MCQ and Ive made a list of what I think are my weakest areas. I made flashcards for certain topics that are more list/criteria oriented. And In my notes Ive highlighted important steps/equations to focus on as well to solve problems.

I am freaking out though so I hope I am not alone. I feel like the more and more I review the more and more I realize how much I can't remember. SO frustrating! I think half the battle is too keep pushing yourself through the review period and get in as much as possible and the other half is the luck of which questions you get on the exam.

    Goodluck mate!

    PS.

If anyone else is getting super anxious and nervous please let me know because this is a lot. I don't understand how they expect us to know all this material and then ask us such specific questions!

@BalllsLife12 I am incredibly nervous. I am ashamed to say that I am getting progressively worse with my results as the review is going on. This is the opposite of what is supposed to happen!! I was doing well before, but am starting to panic….

    BEC - 82! 11/15; (74) 8/15

    Hi BalllsLife12,

I am studying for BEC and I am freaking out about not remembering the first 3 chapters. I was suppose to take BEC today but I pushed it to next saturday to give me a full week to review all of BEC.

I feel the same as you in that the more I review the more I realize how much I can't remember. And I totally relate to half the battle is luck and the other half is what we retained in the time we studied.

Try not think about how much your not remembering and keep pushing through the material!

    Good luck!
