So I have a had THE BEST past couple of weeks. On August 28th I sat for my first Audit retake and studied hard for two weeks prior to that. After taking the test I have been on 2 long weekend vacations and I ended up getting engaged in NYC! 🙂 Audit is my first pass and I was ecstatic yesterday and even cried when I saw my score. Now my question is how do I go about starting my full time auditing job on the 24th of September and trying to study and pass 3 more sections while also trying to plan a wedding for next summer??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’ve had a wonderful 2 weeks off from this madness, but it’s time to dive back in full force!

Hire a wedding planner to deal with all the little details. Or pick one day a week to focus on your wedding and use the rest of the time to focus on the CPA. Or pick your venue and your date, book the venue so you don't have to worry about it anymore, then forget about the wedding until you pass all three parts. Take one in October, one in November, one in January and then you can focus on your wedding after that. Most of the wedding details will happen closer to the wedding date anyways. No need to start losing focus right now. Knock out the exams and the worry about the wedding. Congratulations!

CPA Exam - Finally DONE (November 2014)
    BEC (08/10/13) 80
    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85
    FAR (04/12/14) 81
    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!

Congrats! Figure out a date and book a venue. If you have a popular photographer in mind I'd book them as well. Then put wedding planning on hold and push through your remaining exams.

If you need to keep up with some wedding things while you're studying, set a specific day of the week, or a certain time each day where you allow yourself do to what you need to for the wedding. But hold yourself to that day, hour, half-hour and don't let wedding planning steal time from studying.

I'm in the same position as you. I obtained a new staff accountant position at a CPA firm beginning of August, started studying for BEC at that time. Just found out I failed. Planning on Audit October 3rd. I have my wedding on October 11th. Honeymoon, then FAR November 29. Now I have to figure where to put my BEC retake before tax season starts.

My advice, talk with your partner and come up with a study plan where you can find time to study and stick to it. Now I'm planning on waking up early and doing majority of my studying in the morning so there is social time with my fiance/soon to be wife after work. And we already agreed weekends are blocked out for me.

The CPA exam is important, but it's not that important to ruin a new marriage (or even an engagement). Find the time to study and agree with your partner on it. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a clown.

Thanks for the advice guys! I just feel so completely overwhelmed right now. As if the CPA was not enough! haha That sounds like a good plan though. The only thing I am stressed over right now is where and when we are going to have it. Like you all said, once that happens, everything else won't matter until later on.

Also, we bought a townhouse in April right after I passed REG, that put a pause in my studies for 3 months so don't do that! lol And she is doing/did most of the planning while I studies. It kept her busy so that was good.

Good luck. I got engaged last summer and started working full-time right before that. Right now we're wrapping up all the big details of our wedding in April and I'm trying to pass! It's not easy, as we did it without a wedding planner, but it's absolutely doable. I had to sacrifice some sleep, which isn't ideal, but necessary for me. You can do it!

I just hope I can finish the rest before busy season lol

@bronxbombers2 congrats on getting the best passed! Now it's all downhill for you. Sleep in one thing that is hard for me to sacrifice, but it looks like that is going to be the key to success from here on out. Good luck on finishing!
