Im scheduled to take bec in 13 hours and after reviewing here and there, i have come to the horrible realization that i am not ready to take this exam at all. My NTS expires today. I really do want to reschedule and possibly take it at the end of this month instead. Problem is, on the prometric site it says any changes made 24 hours or less prior to your appointment will forfeit your fees and you will need to reapply to your board of accountancy. What does that mean? Am i going to have to pay a large fee for canceling at the last minute? Will a no show end up on my record? Is it still possible for me to cancel right now?

Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated!!

    Hey

It means you will need to get a new NTS i.e. pay the registration fee for that again (you will loose the registration fee you paid for your current NTS).

If your NTS was not to expire, then you could have used it to postpone the exam day but you would then have to pay a rescheduling fee since you are cancelling it in the last minute (that fee is specified on the confirmation you received upon scheduling your current exam day).

Why not give it a try even if you're not ready? Money-wise it won't matter. However note that you will not be able to re-take the same exam within the same testing window.

I think it may be too late for me to cancel anyway. I just tried canceling and it said “this appointment is past the cutoff date for modification. Sigh. This might sound silly but i would rather have 1-2 more weeks of studying time and go into the testing center feeling ready to take on the exam than to go in tomorrow knowing full well that im going to fail and then have to wait till october to retake it.

Yeah, gotta reschedule within 24 hours or else it gets locked in. I think they sometimes let people reschedule for emergencies, but that's it.

Anyways, go and take it. BEC's pass rate has been in the mid-high 50s the past few quarters and the writing communication section isn't nearly as daunting as simulations are.

Review what you can and go take the test. You might get just the questions you can answer.

Fire up a pot of coffee, get studying, and take the test. It's not like an angel loses its wings if you fail. Besides, BEC isn't that hard, you just may find that you pass.

You'll have to wait until October regardless I believe, so you might as well go take it.

keep pumping out MCQs and reviewing whatever you got wrong.

Memorize some ratios that you don't know

and touch up on your cost accounting

most importantly, get a good nights sleep.

    good luck

Thanks for all your input everyone! I really appreciate it. Since it's too late to do anything but cram/review now, I will suck it up and take the exam later today.
