…that it all comes together in final review. I am taking my first section (FAR) on 7/17, if I do not implode before then.

I am finishing up F9 tomorrow, F10 by Sunday, and starting final review Monday (17 days of final review).

    I. Am. Not. Retaining. Anything.

For instance, I took a mini progress test today of 20 questions (F1-F6) and scored 50%. I didn’t feel great about the ones I got right either. I have put in some serious time so I’m thinking I must be in the early stages of Alzheimer’s or something.

I think I need reassurance that either this will come together or that it doesn’t ever come together for the majority of (passing) candidates…

Words of wisdom from your study hell to mine are welcome and appreciated 🙂

I am in the same boat as you except i am too scared to schedule my exam just yet ha…good luck girl… i will like to see what other people reply. I also feel like I don't know anything but that's only because these becker questions are SOOOOOOOOOOOO long and hard for FAR. I am on F8 now and its nice to see one line questions rather than 6 line questions for the past 7 chapters! yikes

It will come together. During your review work as many mcq's as possible. I used to do sessions of 20-25 questions at a time starting out doing them per section to see where my weaknesses were and then in the last week or so I did non stop sessions of 30 questions pulled from all sections.

Should we re-work each MCQs for each chapter's homework OR just do progress tests for each chapter? i mean it comes out to the same thing except you get a random set of questions that pertain to the whole chapter.

You'll be fine. What I always do at the beginning of a review is reread the entire book and note tricky topics on a document(I use google keep) and then hammer practice tests, broken up into 30 question increments. I'll redo some sims but the Becker ones are so out there it seems a little pointless.

I am in the exact same boat too! I have FAR in exactly 3 weeks and hope to start final review tomorrow. And even though it sounds like a decent amount of time to review, I have been doing HORRIBLE on the hw first time around (avg 50%) on most topics.

I am praying it all clicks once I start going through the material again, and stop worrying about how much lecture video I have left on the clock. Good luck to everyone!

I do MCQs using my resources– if I don't know something, I look it up. That way I'm always using my time for learning instead of floundering. I think it's more efficient that way. As I get closer to my test, I gain confidence with the material and use resources less and less.

@kpb, I worked each section mcq's from my book (used wiley book) several times but in my review stage I would do mixed sessions using the wiley test bank (this was last year and the year before so it was before the new test bank which I understand is not that great).

    Good to know, thank you!

I think i may just have to end up doing all of the homework questions one by one again.

I was in the same boat. I ended up doing a cram course (17 hours of lectures) the 3 days before the exam. I felt like the full course provided the foundation, and the cram really drove everything home.

Fortunately for BEC, the lectures are short enough that I could, if I wanted to, watch the whole damn thing over again. The thing I've done differently with BEC than with FAR is giving myself a cumulative review after each section (example- I just finished section 5, so tomorrow I will do the section 5 questions, and then Sunday I will do 50 random questions over sections 1-5.

I'm also using Roger and was wondering if the Roger cram were only lectures or are more questions also included in the cram. My exam is 3 months away but I'm planning to use the cram toward the end of the review. Just wondering if you found it was worth the money to invest in.

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

    @jternida1 ,

It was definitely worth it for me. It uses the same interactive software, but the book did have questions as well, however, I couldn't tell you if they were new/different/etc. For me, it wasn't an issue of needing more questions, it was needing a refresher on the enormous wealth of information on FAR.

I would recommend reviewing smaller portions at a time. F-1 t F-6 is the bulk of everything, getting lost in material wastes time. Try mastering two sections at a time, some sections go well together like gov. and nfp and slowly incorporate everything together.

Another tip I always like to do is go through your book and write a cheat sheet of all the things you need to memorize, that way your not scrambling around. But I think you will see everything comes together exponentially the longer you review, taking maybe a day to plan out what you need to do would be time well spent.

I am in the same boat, I feel like none of it is ever going to make sense (NOT the MCQs anyway for F2-7)…. I am on F10 and am dreading starting my review, schedule my exam for August 9th…. Any more advice from anyone who's studied/currently studying/passed FAR? I am scared I won't be ready and end up failing 🙁
