I got an offer from PwC and I start this January (in more than 3 month).

From now on, every week I receive communications from PwC about their firm, culture etc… general stuff. However, I was never asked to fill out any forms for a background check. I also never filled out anything related to my preferred industries…. Is that normal? Should I be concerned?

I see. I have been out of school for 4 years now. Just passed the CPA exam and I am actively looking for a job in public accounting to get my 500 audit hours but it seems such an uphill road 🙁

Usually they'll have you fill out an extensive application online after they make you an offer.

@gorbuha – what's is a grade “A” license? Never heard… Whats State are you from?

@NYCaccountant – I'm from MD. Have someone refer you. And make sure that person follows up with the recruiter, not just submitting your application. You can also try your school recruiting, if you have such opportunity. I was hired as a campus-hire, even though I worked in industry for 4+ years….

@acamp – how soon did you get that? It's been almost a month since I accepted my offer. Should I contact my recruiter?

I don't want to de-rail the thread but I couldn't happen to notice that you are from MD. I just applied to take the Exam through MD and I am wondering how long it typically takes for the application to be approved? The site mentioned it could take 120 days but that just seems excessive! There doesn't appear to be any tracking capability, either. Thanks!

@topsya – Wow that is pretty fast! I ordered my transcripts right after so hopefully they get there pretty quickly. My only problem is I selected Option 1 (test only) instead of Option 2 (test and licensure) because I read it as Option 2 was reserved for people with the requisite experience for licensure. The lady on the phone assured me that the reviewer would realize that my education qualifies for licensure as well, but we shall see! Thanks for the info.

@Topsya – I'm not going to PwC, but I am going to a large national firm starting at the end of next month. I received my offer last November. It wasn't until a week and a half ago I was asked to finally fill out an application/background check form.

@Topsya have known many people that have gotten Big 4 jobs and never had to do a drug test. You will probably get an email about a background check, but it will probably be extremely simple.I start work at another B4 in January and I was surprised at how lax the background check/drug testing was.

I did a previous internship at a Fortune 500 Oil and Gas company and had to give hair samples and go back to my high school to get “official” transcripts. It was kind of obsessive.
