I got an offer from PwC and I start this January (in more than 3 month).

From now on, every week I receive communications from PwC about their firm, culture etc… general stuff. However, I was never asked to fill out any forms for a background check. I also never filled out anything related to my preferred industries…. Is that normal? Should I be concerned?

    Thanks,

Yes, I think the hair samples might be better than a urine test, but I'm shocked no drug test.

@Topsya It was terribly awkward. I always have low hair cuts, so the girl shaved my legs.

@Topsya – I reached out to them once a few months ago to see if they had a start date for me, as I am trying to take all of the exams and training for a half marathon, so I wanted to know how I needed to arrange my schedule. Other than that and some mass emails, I haven't had any contact. Not sure when I would have heard had I not asked!

I got my PwC offer back in the beginning of June and didn't have to do a background check until ~1 month before my start date in September. The background checks require you to send a transcript to PwC to make sure you actually graduated (and to make sure you're not a criminal), but that is pretty much it. You will submit your I-9 employee verification ~2 weeks before your start date, and on the first day of work you just bring in your passport and everything should be good. I did not get drug tested, but I have heard of other B4 firms in my area that did drug tests.

yes it is totally normal. even though you still dont know who your client is (i assume), they portfolio manager has assigned you to an engagement team. based on your work and your client, you will need to fill in different form to get the independence confirmation and other tests. therefore, when you start in jan, you will be ready to dive in. you will receive your client's badge, email, contractor's number etc. hope that helps.

@CPjAson – they have asked me to email my transcripts a couple of weeks ago… which I did. However, I have not heard back from them after that. Should I have?

@Tops – You'll get an email form PwC when the background investigation is done. They don't update your onboarding action item list saying it's done. Also – my Resource Manager emailed all of the new hires and asked which clients/industries we would like to work in about a month before our start date, so you'll probably get an email soon.

@CPjAson – Thanks for your response! Did you fill out a special form for them to perform a background check or did they just do it themselves and then sent you the results?

@Topsya Usually onboarding tasks will start around 3 month before your start date. You start by filling out your personal data form. Then comes your background check, where you will have to have your schools send official transcripts to PwC or the company hired by PwC to do your background research. Then you have to complete your independence check. Couple weeks before you start, you need to do your I9 and apply for a corporate Amex card. They usually will email you to let you know when to do certain task, but you should keep track yourself by logging in to PwC onboarding site. There might also be some informative emails and conference call with your market team higher ups. Hope this helps. And good luck starting at around busy season.
